Thread #6: Paper on Snow White/Pinocchio

As an animation collector I naturally covet material on Disney's first animated features, namely Snow White and Pinocchio. In my travels I have seen a few Snow White posters (mostly on Cinemasterpieces) listed for prices I know that I will never be able to meet. But I have never seen a piece of paper for Pinocchio's original 1940 release. Resigning that I will never own 1-sheets on these films unless my girlfriend opts to sell her eggs to ensure one fantastic birthday present, I've started looking for some lesser paper on the films.

I remember once I saw a tattered old Snow White lobby card for a few hundred dollars on eBay. It was before I was collecting full force but I often think back to that auction and know I would bid if it ever surfaced again. I guess this thread is me asking if anybody in general knows where one would find some paper on these movies. Preferably lobby cards, or maybe an insert, something that would cost under $500.

Or, if you simply know what this paper looks like. I've never seen a 1940 Pinocchio poster and I want to see one. I've never seen a lobby card either, except for that one. So even if you don't know somebody selling one, an image for reference would make me very happy.

It looks like for under 500 your going to have to go for one of the re-releases.  Kymar has a few of the re-releases for sale on eBay right now and Bruce has 2 snow whites and a Pinocchio up for auction right now.  Good luck.

Thank you for the links, Bruce. I'm only just starting to get more familiar with your site and I didn't realize this auction archive exists, its been very helpful!

I am unfortunately very aware of how much the original release posters cost., tstatum. My $500 ambition is largely aimed at a single lobby card, which will hopefully be doable. But I've always been turned off by re-releases, so for now I'm sticking with originals.

Looks like you might have a shot at a lobby cArd Bruce sold one in January for $182. Good luck on the search.

I would consider a 1943 re-release lobby. They are full color and different from the originals and likely even more rare!

The re-releases do have some beautiful artwork. But with Snow White I'm looking more to own a little piece of history as well as artwork. The original 1937 release is, for the time being, the only release I'm interested in.

As far as heralds go, I'm not exactly sure what they are. Would you clarify what it is?
