My thought exactly. Do they even have football (which is no doubt called "soccer") in the UK? Seems like it would make about as much sense as releasing a movie about cricket in the USA.

Football is the U.K.'s national sport. It's bigger than Rugby or Cricket, only the Americans call it Soccer(a lot of younger fans won't even know what Soccer means!!). I don't follow it myself, but I believe Jon is a big fan.

OldposterHo was being cheeky - saying that American Football is probably called Soccer in the UK.

Why do they call it (American ) football in the U.S. if they use their hands... (if he was being cheeky he should use a or something as gestures don't show up in print )

Im a huge american football fan but I agree on the name. It seems a bit silly but that is what it was called when it resembled football football. They never changed the name when it started to become like rugby and then eventually evolved into what it is today. Soccer was used in England in the 1800s to differentiate it from rugby. They used to call rubgy football back then too. Soccer was actually the name for football in 19th century England. I hope that that made sense but I think I may have confused myself again.
