I recently came across my personal collection of auction catalogs which I had carefully assembled over a 20 year period. I had at one time thought about using them to write a history of the movie poster hobby, but I became too busy and the project was shelved. When I came across them in a remote corner of my warehouse, I realized I would never do this project, and I thought, why not auction these, so others can acquire these and enjoy them?

I had been a comic book dealer who bought many lobby cards and a few posters from 1967 to 1976, and when I returned to the hobby in 1982, I started attending movie poster auctions, and I often purchased two of each catalog, one to keep in perfect condition, and one to mark in. As I became more immersed in the hobby I made a major effort to acquire catalogs from every auction, whether I attended them or not. I also purchased some catalogs from old time collectors, mostly from the 1970 to 1983 period.

There are 238 catalogs in all, and they end tomorrow night. They are listed in chronological order, and they cover all the highlights of the early auctions, including the MGM auction in 1970, the earliest movie poster auctions the following year, the Berry auctions of the early 1980s, the Camden House auctions starting in 1989, the many French auctions, and on and on! Remember that just about all of these auctions pre-date the Internet, and most contain lots of images that can't be found online!

Yet with less than a day to go, most of these are between $1 and $4, and only a few are as much as $10. Whether you are a collector who would like to look at these and add them to your collection, or a dealer who knows he can likely re-sell these at fixed prices for much more, you really need to look these over!

You'll find these in our Tuesday auctions, lots 9m279-9m516. Go to http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/page/4/13.html to view all the auctions (there are also nearly 500 Japanese Chirashis, as seen in the chart below and lots of other cool stuff):
