I've come to see that most of the websites I've become familiar with don't really sell posters from the last year or two and it can be very difficult to find a poster that came out just a few months ago. So other than eBay, which I'm trusting less and less, how can I get posters for recent movies?

The theatre I work at has a of minimalist contract with Technicolor and we can't get international, IMAX or 3D posters, so there's no way for me to get these kinds of posters without buying them somewhere. I know many people have connections in the business that helps them get contemporary posters, but where should I go?

For modern posters, I'd try Dale Dilts first and foremost.  He is a member of this forum and sells on Ebay too (http://shop.ebay.com/ddilts399/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=50&_sop=10).  If you don't see something you want, shoot him an email, he may have it anyway.

Now, there are a few dealers that people on here trust, but I don't buy from them, so I'll let others help you.

I second that. He is my favorite and I have not bought from anyone other than him when it comes to modern movie posters. I love how he is so quick in shipping out posters and how well he packs them. A+++ seller.

Dale's great but I wouldn't narrow it to one dealer.  Here are the links to:

Ebay 2000-present Original US Movie Posters

Ebay Current Releases US Original Movie Posters

90% of the 36,000+ posters in these categories are junk, unfortunately, so you'll have to search for specific posters.

Thank you, and the junk makes sense. After all, aren't 90% of movies junk anyway?

Depressingly, none of these sources have yielded the posters I seek...
I guess I'll have to start a grail list now, won't I?

After a while you will see that half the fun is in the hunt, finding the poster you seek.
Im pretty sure we all have lists...I just wish I would stick to the damn list. MAKE THE BUYING STOP!  moron1

As for Dale. I must jump on that wagon. He is the goods. I have had multiple good experiences.

Welcome to the un-ending cycle. Soon enough you will be testing the bounds of just how much is too much to spend on a poster.  I trust Dale as well.  I understand your frustration as far as "who do I trust?" In this hobby seller's rep is everything. It is certainly a good sign to be approved of on this forum.

I remember shortly after Inception came out there was an IMAX poster on eBay for $40 that I didn't buy for some reason. I wanted it even then, pretty badly. Maybe I didn't think it would be that hard to find again. Turns out it is.

I think back to when I saw it in IMAX and there were six or seven of them hanging just in the main lobby. If anybody has an Inception IMAX poster I'd pay over a hundred dollars for it.*

*I hope the actual going price isn't more than that because then I just look stupid.

Do not pay over $100 for it.  Do not pay over $50 for it.  Just be patient, check EBay regularly, and I assure you this poster will pop up again.  Between $20 and $30 and DS.  I have a want list of over 1,000 posters.  It was 1,000 a year ago, but I probably found 200 and added 200 new ones. That's just how it goes.  A collector cannot be in a rush, otherwise you're bound to failure and excruciating agony.  Breathe in, breathe out.

I know that this is good advice. When I first started collecting I was very impulsive and made a lot of purchases I quickly regretted. Posters, lobby sets, promotional items, etc. I didn't know any better and was very ignorant and overpayed for a lot of posters.

I guess I'm just reacting to the whole Thomas Loce thing. I was so excited to think I'd found one of my most desired posters that I didn't even read the product description carefully. I also have been researching minty whites and am pretty sure one of my Roger Rabbit posters is fake and overall I guess I'm just looking for something to pick me up.

Thanks all for the kind words. I can get behind on special requests and such from time to time as I do the selling on the side to support my own hobby purchases, so ebay sales have to take priority and sometimes stuff falls down in the in box, so dont be afraid to fire me as many reminders as it takes if you ever fall into the delay category!

Everything I've heard about Mr. Dilts has been good.  I'll have to order some posters from him sometime.

For modern UK stuff, I highly recommend Graeme (picturetrader).  He sells a lot of stuff on movieposterbid.com and I believe has some on ebay as well.  Like Dale, if he doesn't have it listed anywhere, he may yet have it, or at least know where to get it.  He is very nice to deal with; and unlike a lot of stuff coming from the UK these days, you can be assured it will be well packaged.

Also, I have had great dealings with Joney over at amoviemasterpiece.co.uk.  He was nothing but helpful and professional when I bought a Fifth Element holographic quad from him a while back.

I am not sure if he is a member here, but check the dealers thread.  I made an inquiry about a week or so ago for his email address.  It is posted there.

Edit: it is actually not posted there.  ukpictures [at] aol [dot] com

Thanks. There is a modern UK quad I want. I just contacted him through email to see if he has the poster I'm looking for.
