I put this thread in the general section, because it's not about showing off my collection.  It's a call for help.

As some of you may or may not know, I'm putting together a coffee book (or wannabe coffee book) on Spielberg through his posters, movies he directed and produced (about 90 movies from 1971 to today).  I have about 650 posters and lobby card sets from all around the world on the man, so lots to chose from.  Plus, his one-of-a-kind track record at the box office makes most of these movies extremely attractive and visible.

Anyhow, I'm now in the final phase of completing some collections.  I acquired this Raiders quad today...

...which puts me an inch closer to closing the book on Raiders.  Please check out my collection (http://www.eatbrie.com/Indy.htm) and let me know if you see anything I'm missing, not repeats of what I already have (it would be endless) but original designs, say from Greece or Congo.

I will follow up soon with more titles like ET and Back to the Future.

Thierry

PS: Oh, and I know about the Kilian.  It's on my list.

Hi Thierry,

Firstly... fantastic collection!

I saw you included the 2003 Struzen Commemorative poster but noticed the 2008 Comic Con was missing;

http://www.firstshowing.net/img/cci-posters/indy4-1.jpg

I've been trying to find an image (no luck so far but still looking) of some UK banners that I remember appearing during the release of IJATKOTCS. They had an image on both sides (I believe) one of which was the shot of Indy running (same as your advance bus shelter) but the other image was of Indy swinging (on his whip) which you currently don't appear to have.

Assume you may have thought about this already but it might be nice (where possible) to include some of the concept images of the Indy posters that didn't get chosen. I only mention this as for me the ones seen in Drew Struzen's recent book were excellent and it was fascinating to see how a poster evolves.

All the best with the book,

Paul.

Just got my 100th piece of advertising on the Indy series.  Sorry for the crappy seller's picture.  A UK double feature re-release for Raiders and ToD.  Getting there, getting there...

Thanks Tob.  Paul, thanks for the heads-up.  Yeah, I remember the poster.  I almost bought it, but it was too much at the time.  It's on my list.

Anything else, people?

Do you have the hat/whip teaser for Crystal Skull? Was that ever printed?  Probably a "fan poster"

It's not a fan poster, it was in fact, printed in droves for Comic Con 2007.

They used to be all over ebay, haven't even looked since I saw that awful movie.

Yeah, I think I have a few of those laying around somewhere, but they're small and not really movie posters, so I never included them to my listing.

Same with Bruce's chirashis.  I own a B2 of the same design, and I don't collect chirashis, cut or uncut.

Thanks guys,

I forgot to bid Thursday night - you would have had some competition for this uncommon Australian one sheet:

When it comes to material on Spielberg I do not have, it would be extremely foolish to go against me.  Since I'm trying to complete a collection, I am willing to spend way more than the value of a given item.

BTW, I don't know if this poster is rare, but it is my 51st piece of advertisement on Temple of Doom.  46 posters and 5 lobby card sets.

I'd rather go with the Aussie "Jungle Style" one sheet...

Fantastic collection but how do you know when it's complete? Are you aiming to fulfil a specific criteria and if so, what is it? I find it interesting being a completist myself.

Originally, I was only trying to get unique designs.  I achieved that a while back.  So for all extents and purposes, except for one piece I won't advertize here, I am done with Indy.  The Australian style Mel posted is the same than the German style, the UK quad or two Daybills I own.  So in essence, it shouldn't have been a priority.  But the completist in me changed the rules of the game and now I want it all.  But again, I do believe I have all the designs.

As far as my Spielberg collection is concerned, with 850 pieces and counting, I'm also close to owning it all.  To my knowledge, I am still missing a dozen pieces.  I know what they are and where they are.  I just refuse to spend what dealers charge.  It's a question of ethic.  But I will get there at some point.  No hurry.

Way to take a sentence out of its context, Mel.  This one sounds very cocky of me.  Add the next one: "Since I'm trying to complete a collection, I am willing to spend way more than the value of a given item" and you get what I was trying to say.

Really looking forward to the book. I'm guessing there's quite a good market for such a title. Best of luck with it!
