Dawn of the Dead one sheet question
« on: January 29, 2011, 12:47:59 PM »
This Dawn of the Dead is on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Original-1SH-Dawn-Dead-Movie-Poster-1978-/220730433028?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item33648f1e04

The "about" 27x41 is a red flag in and of itself. I also noticed no title in the lower right border, however, I found this image on emovieposter which is also missing the title in the corner:
http://www.emovieposter.com/imagearchive/poster/321894.html

Finally, the "D's" in dead seem to cheat into the white border, which seems odd.
Since I do not own one can anyone weigh in on this?
Thanks,
Conor

Conor i cant verify the authenticity of the poster, but the "D" issue you mention could just be an optical illusion as it is situated just underneath a horizontal fold line..

You may be correct Stew. I thought I read somewhere that it was an issue with reprints.  However, my eyes are not what they used to be. I blame countless hours of reading forums on a computer screen!

It is my understanding that the full size (27x41) no NSS text version is an R80 re-release. I've read this several times but I didnt have any way to verify it... I avoided that one when I was buying just in case.

One (without NSS) just sold for $191 on Heritage.

Anybody have any definite info on this?

Not sure now where I originally read about the R80... but there is some discussion here: http://www.movieposterforum.com/index.php?/topic/30068-1978-dawn-of-the-dead-no-nssn-or-title-need-help/

they rereleased it when KNIGHTRIDERS was released from memory.
As said before I had a ripper of as fake, sent it to Dan, he laffed.
so theres fakes of the reissue, but if you get one and cant tell, then good luck to you, and please dont have children.

Ha-ha!  I'd say get a DNA test for "your" kids and a microscope for your posters like Mr. Dan did.....

Here is where I read about the "D" issue.  http://drlogan.tripod.com/dawnposters.htm

I also look for the printer's brackets, GAU/litho USA mark
(which are not apparent to me on the current ebay auction)
I'll pass on this one....

One of these just turned up on eMovieposter so I sent them a link to this thread.  Maybe they'll be able to turn up something more definitive...
