Looks good, Arcade.

I purchased a lightbox from River City on Ebay, and had some issues.  The first being it did not work when I plugged it in.  The second being the guy would not give me a refund, and I had to file a claim with Ebay.  He did say that he would send me a ballast for free, and $100 worth of posters, but if I wanted to build a lightbox, I would not have bought one that was already assembled from him in the first place.  He said that he would have to charge me a $100 re-stocking fee, so I filed a claim under the Buyer Protection Program which basically states that if the item is defective or faulty, the buyer is entitled to a full refund (without a $100 re-stocking fee).  The third issue was that there was paint in the grooves where the poster slides into, a thick coat of paint that was brushed on, or just sprayed too thick, and even if it had worked, I would not have felt good putting anything in there resting against paint like that (especially an Avatar lenticular).  The boxes he has that are not the painted black kind would possibly not have that issue, and looking back on it, they do look nicer for a little more $.

I still had to pay $70 or $80 bucks to ship it back, and had a huge, dirty box sitting in my kitchen for a couple weeks.  The lightbox didn't have a switch either, so you would have to hook it up to an outlet that is controlled by a wall switch, or plug it in and unplug it all the time.  Lastly, I'm not sure about the acrylic between the poster and the lights, but the acrylic on the outside was not UV protective.  Other than that, it was a pretty nice lightbox.   Cheesy

Ouch, Neo's experience speaks for itself.
I can understand a bad ballast, but hey...a good supplier makes things right without a hassle.
Thanks for the heads up there Loco One. I guess when I'm ready to deck out my underground theater, I'll be shopping elsewhere.

I would NOT recommend them.  Any respectable business owner such as Bruce, Dave, Ed King, Colin, Hideyuki, Armin (the dealers from whom I have bought most of my collection - whose reputations precede them  Wink) would do as Brude said, that is "make things right without a hassle."  Buying from River City Theater Lightboxes was a big waste of time, money, and energy.

Thanks. Chasing Amy was my very first original movie poster purchase.
Love the film and the poster.

Thanks for the info on the lightbox. Sounds like I will need to be careful and ask questions before hand.
Did you buy the two bulb system or the four bulb. Four kind of sounds like overkill for my little room.

And Dale, wish I had extra copies of X-Men to trade you. But as you know those two issues now command a small fortune.
I am however getting ready to sell issues 112,114 and 115 all in CGC graded 9.4 if you are interested.
What are the other 10 books? I have tons of raw copies as well, all in great shape.
I almost won your poster lot auction today but got out bid by a couple of bucks.
I purchased some of your lots a couple of years ago. Very nice stuff for a great price.

I got the four bulb system, as I figured if it was too bright, then I could simply remove 2 of the bulbs.  And I forgot to mention that River City Theater Lightboxes said that if I wanted to return the lightbox, he would have to charge me the cost of shipping it to me, a $100 re-stocking fee, and of course I would have to cover the cost to ship it back.

Sometime soon I will probably get a lightbox from Stargate Cinema and start a thread about it.

I tried to find my list today and cant locate it. I will have to dig the box out with the start of the run again to see what is missing. I bought comic base and the scanner to inventory everything, but who has time. I don't even keep up with alphabetizing the new stuff as it rolls in anymore.

Hey Neo,

you could always build one. Pretty simple to do and I know a few people on this forum has done it. I think Holiday was the first and I used some of his techniques to build mine. I know Chad, Supraman079 has also built one.

Chad's: http://web.mac.com/supraman079/iWeb/Movie%20Poster%20Collection/Lightbox.html

Here is mine: http://www.moviepostermadness.com/Movie_Poster_Madness/Light_Boxes.html

I cant get Holiday's link to work - Hey Holiday fix your "old site" link

CJ, that is awesome.
I absolutely love the three Alice posters all together and lit up.
My left side poster of those three should be arriving tomorrow. It is one that will for sure go in my lightbox whenever I get one.

Neo, I noticed that the four bulb box on River City's web page is not much more than the two, and I guess you are right about being able to remove the bulbs if it is too bright. I will check out stargates as well.

Dale, no hurry, my X-Men are not going away anytime soon. I hope I have some that you need.
I do not know if this link will let you in if you are not a CGC member but I will try it anyway.
This should be a link directly to my X-Men #1-300 graded collection. I currently have the 11th best set in the nation and I still have a lot of early issues to fill in.
I started out with issues 94-143 and have slowly started filling in from there.

That's cool, CJ.  Those boxes look excellent, like they were professionally made.  How much did the raw materials cost for each, around $250?  If so, building one myself would be a good way to save a few Benjamin Franklins.  You guys have inspired me to look into building my own!   Cheesy

The ferris quad is great but it's one of those posters that looks even better framed -- the black frame boxing off all that white space.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Tob that looks great framed.

Here are a few other pics of what I have hanging up. I switched out the Alice posters in my light box for some Tarantino. I try to hang something appealing to my 7 year old daughter and try not to put violent posters up but, i really wanted to display these and they will probably only be up for a day before I change them out.

I decided to hang my B1 of Kill Bill

And aslo a B2 for Pulp Fiction

And finally, I switched out my Alamo Prints a while ago and replaced them with some Ibraheem Youseff art prints. The pics did not turn out well but the prints look much better in person as most do.

The Repulsione Italian one-panel (39x55) arrived and it is by far the most beautiful poster I have.  Grab it if you ever get the chance!

P.S. Can anybody loan me a time machine so I can go back to March of last year and tell myself "BUY POSTERS LIKE THIS - NOT CHEESEBALL US ONE SHEETS"!

Mel

Bundle up all your "cheeseball" U.S. one-sheets, ship them to us, and then use the proceeds to buy more beautiful posters like this one!

You will likely lose money, but your will have made a valuable trade-off that will gain you more, both now and years from now.
