Too bad. It might surprise us all. Apparently, this re-boot will take place in high school rather than college (like Spider-man 1,2&3).

The re-boots is based on the Ultimate Spider-Man comic which follows PP in high school. The original series (1963) started with PP in high school, too

I remember when they first announced this reboot, they said they wanted an actor that was younger, high school age to play a younger Peter Parker. So what does Sony do? Hire a guy that's the same age Tobey was when he started the part.
Personally, I have no interest in this reboot, and I have been a HUGE Spiderman fan for a long time. I did enjoy Marc Webb's 500 Days of Summer, but that's all he's done so I won't say weather or not he'll be a good directorial choice for the film. Not to mention how we have a British Spiderman...great...
This goes without mentioning that the cast is horrible for this movie, none fit the parts. It's got the potential to be an average B movie in terms of quality, but Sony is expecting it to be more since they've already established the franchise name. I've been super mad about this from the start.
TOBEY IS SPIDERMAN!

No interest in this. And from the pics, it looks like Twilight: Spiderman: The Movie.
Superhero movies need to go away for awhile.

The Respect-O-Meter just keeps going up and up, my friend! Bale 'hiding' his voice all the damn time, especially to people WHO KNOW WHO HE IS is so ridiculously annoying. Keaton 4 life!

I agree about the voice. I keep thinking Dirty Harry is Batman. He needs to dial it down to at least Batman Begins level but these two films were far better than the Keaton movies.

thanks wonka. never even thought about him talking like that to people who know who he is in the film, that just makes it even worse.

The Burton Batman films work because of one simple thing: Burton KNOWS who Batman is, in terms of character. He nails the character himself.
Nolan's Batman does some really great things...except the central character, which is huge for me. I would even argue Bale is miscast. Its a major problem when in a Batman film the biggest issue is Batman.
And yes, him talking in that stupid voice to Alfred and Lucius Fox when they are alone, and especially in the frickin' Batcave make me LOL in the theater, which pissed off half the 16 year olds who already had plans for a Why So Serious Joker shirt from Hot Topic when the mall opened the next day.

What ever works for you is what works. I can name quite a few movies that are regarded as all time greats that just plain suck ass to me. Why So Serious Joker shirt from Hot Topic when the mall opened the next day.
What is wrong with Hot Topic tshirts?

Thank you! People have been calling me stupid and crazy for years because I don't like Nolan's Batman. I still refuse to jump on the Nolan bandwagon. Sure he's a decent director and I enjoy some of his stuff but to me he's no Cameron or anything (Cameron is my idol) It's not Batman anymore, it's a ninja version of Clint Eastwood trained in China by Liam Neeson since when did that become Batman? Batman Forever will always be MY Batman movie! (Nicole Kidman rawr!) I totally agree about Bale being the wrong guy the play the character, I'm also not a fan of him. As for the next movie "The Dark Knight Rises" even direct this comment towards "The Amazing Spiderman" as well, both movies are cramming a ton of characters in. With "The Dark Knight Rises" we have Selina Kyle, Bane, some character that Marion Cotillard will be playing (love interest) and some character that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be playing and who knows what else. With Spiderman there's, if things hold out which is unlikely, multiple villains as well. If Iron Man 2 and Spiderman 3 among others have taught us anything it's that introducing a ton of new characters into one film turns into a muddled mess. Also haha sorry this thread has turned from Spiderman to Batman, just goes to show the enthusiasm for a Spidey reboot

I read somewhere when TDK first came out, that the biggest gripe most people had about the film was the voice of Batman. It was said that it wasnt all Bales voice, that a lot of that lower "gravely" tone was added in post .. and that can be argued one of two ways .. Bale wasnt good enough to pull a decent Batman voice off on his own so they had to do something .. Or with this being a sequel they wanted something bigger, better and more over the top than the 1st one .. Sadly im reminded of the rules or formula referred to in the movie Scream .. the recipe for sequels is always bigger, louder, more characters .. and just more more more, which inevitably is the demise of the films and why people typically dont like sequels as much as the original films ..

Prepare the flamethrowers...
I relate the Batmans to the Bonds. Burtons Batman has a Moore/Brosnan feel where they are dark at times, but then have to intentionally lighten the room. Nolans have a Craig feel to them, more brooding and ass kicking and any humor put in is a very dry humor. Nicholson was a great Joker, but it was so over the top, it does not hold up as well on further viewing especially after seeing the darkness Ledger brought to the role.
Keaton was a fabulous Batman and I feel he filled the role better than Bale has, but the overall films have been better with Nolan.
The Kilmer and Clooney Batman debacles should both be stricken from the record and not even be considered Batman films, they should be the red headed step child like Casino Royale for the Bond franchise.

No flames from me, just a bouquet of roses You see it exactly as I do. Especially about Kilmer and even more so Clooney...WOW what a douche! I am guessing but I think perhaps these guys are a couple of years younger than us and they have this romantic view of the Burton Batman movies that I have of Raiders of the Lost Ark and the first Superman movie. While not bad at all, for life long Batman fans in their mid to later 20s at that time, they were dissapointing...I remember trying though. I went and saw that first Batman three times.

I loved 21 (which is coincidentally my age right now!), actually more than I thought. I was pleasantly surprised. When that movie came out I looked at it and said yeah...sure...another blackjack movie, and me being a poker player shunned it without a second thought. Until one day I saw it on the movie network on demand and thought I'd give it a chance seeing as how Spacey and Fishburne were in it. Really enjoyed it to sum it up. Ended up buying it on blu-ray last year for 5 bucks or so. Kate Bosworth in that movie... Those wigs...just wow! Also, how bout that for a segway

On the subject of 21, do some search on it, there are some very interesting articles written by the guy who claims he started the MIT Vegas runs. He gives the run down on what is factual and what was fabricated, very good reading.

I dig superhero movies, except the Clooney and Kilmer Batmans. I look forward to the new wave from Disney/Marvel, but it is the Zack Snyder-Christopher Nolan SUPERMAN: THE MAN OF STEEL that I am champing at the bit for... Sometime in 2012 (if we make it)...
