I know there are Australian daybill folks and some that prefer the Thierry hates "French Grande" while still others love quads. What's your favorite??
Myself, I love American 40x60's and 30x40's.

Right now it is the Japanese Tatekan size. A nice B1 is good too, but I'm really dig'n the Tatekan's.
40x60's rock for US releases.

Yes, I'm a fan of the swap out too...helps you enjoy them. I was just curious because as someone who prefers the smaller size of the daybill, I find those a pain to swap out to ensure that no damage is added to the poster, so I can only imagine what it would be like to have to do the same with larger pieces.
We have 3 large pieces up in the house, two which are posters. 1 is an Italian 2 sheet while the other is a french 1 panel, and I couldn't imagine having to get them down and swaped out! They are the only pieces in the house that are permanent fixtures to our walls.

Thank you. Yeah I really can't wait to get those Tatekan's in a nice plexi frame and on the wall. Regarding your post, yes it is a pain sometimes to swap larger posters out, but it is a lot easier if you have another person to help you. Chad

I really like all formats, as long as they are as big or bigger than a B2. Anything smaller doesn't belong in my collection. So I don't collect Belgian posters, locandinas or daybills. Too small. Although Chris' Mummy daybill looks awesome.

B2. Easy to handle, the right size to display in the office.
I also like big billboard sizes, but they tend to just sit in tubes or drawers... very sad.

Just daybills for me as basically everyone knows.
It's a combination of a few things really:
- first of all it's their unique artwork and (usual) lack of photos like on a US insert (i.e. it's all art)
- second it's their size which makes them very easy to store FLAT and unfolded vs folded or rolled and so they can be enjoyed without having to constantly unfold or unroll them (and risk damage!) - along the same lines, framing is also fairly easy although you do have to custom order (at least here in Canada)
- their general scarcity vs US posters makes them challenging to find sometimes - a challenge can be both fun and frustrating but always interesting
- relative to many other posters and particularly the US posters that usually have the same general artwork (many daybills copy US 3 Sheets in artwork) they are MUCH more economical and thus easier on the budget to collect (overall)

B1's and A0's Personally, I think these sizes are the best balance between the us onesheet and the british quad. I can't describe it, but asthetically these sizes are the most pleasing to me.

I have none of them up Ves. I have a major humidity problem here, and am too scared. But, I buy 40x60's with the specific purpose of framing and displaying them. When I am not longer living in soup, they will be displayed. I realize they are large, ungainly, and expensive to frame, so I only buy them for films which I love that also have images I love.

Australian daybill's are number one on my list. I Also collect current movie poster's as i work in the cinema industry I also collect aussie 3 Sheet's, but hard to display. this is a prime example of lovely colour's. the U.S 3 Sheet for this title is very average.

I don't know if it's because I'm British, and it's what I grew up with, but the majority of my collection is U.K. Quads. I think because of the landscape format the artwork seems right. They seem to Display better than 1sht's also. I only have two quads up at the moment due to recently moving house. I have a couple of U.K. 3 shts I would like up, but frames are very expensive, and I always tend to buy another poster than a frame.

Gotta respectfully disagree with you and Paul on quads vs. one sheets. In most cases the US one sheet is superior to the counterpart quad IMHO. It is true that the movie screen is horizonal BUT the human body is vertical. Most movie posters feature one or two persons, so the US one sheet is ideal and most of the space is filled with art/photographs. The counterpart UK quad versions are less attractive because much of the space is devoted to text on the sides. I'll cite the recent Inglorious Basterds posters as examples, but I could cite many many more That said, in some cases the UK quad format is better when the poster captures the total landscape, like Gladiator and Death Proof.

It Dose all depend on how the artist has made use of the space. I could give loads of examples of superior Quads to one sheets, but it just seems the right way to go. T.v.'s, photography, windows of a house, cinema, even the viewer on the bridge of the Enterprise(star trek) are all landscape, and that's without mentioning 10"x8" F.O.H.stills, 11"x14", lobby cards, etc.
With regaurd, the art work again it so much depends on the Artist. I collect mostly Horror posters, and the Hammer films quads are far better than the U.S. 1shts, same again with Amicus, Tigon, and a host of other distributors. I must agree with you where the Universal Horror posters are concerned. The U.S. one's are far better, though the U.K. first release are a copy of the U.S. one's, but the rerelease posters in the U.K. are quite poor.

I basically agree - it depends on how the artist uses the space. Unfortunately, on far too many quads the studio slaps the American vertical art onto half the horizontal quad and fills the rest of the space with text, which looks very unattractive IMHO. Also, I would add that the UK quad is an anomaly. Every other country uses a vertical format, which is powerful evidence that the vertical format is intrinsically superior, probably - as I said before - because the human body is vertical. Here are some more examples of quads with excessive text/unused space compared to the superior vertical art, which fills all the space with art/photos:
