Cinemasterpieces not a pleasant experience
« on: April 19, 2024, 06:31:19 AM »
Hi

I wanted to share my poor experience with this dealer

I consigned a poster, I sent buyer was found I agreed.
I Found out the money the money has paid yet.
I had to send a chaser email requesting my funds
, is totally unprofessional I wonder how long my funds
were in his account earning interest before he decided to pay me.

He is very rude in emails

I had a similar experience consigning there a long time ago.  I sent him a few modern posters, not very expensive but relatively expensive for modern.  After he received them, he suggested to list them in eBay auction, so I said OK.  One poster that I remember is a Death Proof quad (great poster, sold for about $100) and a few others for $50-$130 - about average market price, and the commission was 50%.

I had a similar feeling about emails, also.  About 2 months after the sales, I messaged him for the payment and he sent it.  Not a great consigning experience, but at the time I had recently paid about 10 times more than market price on a handful of common posters from Cinemasterpieces - clearly I was a newbie to buying and selling.  In the long run, those deals compelled me to do a little homework, and essentially paid for themselves haha.

Neo thanks for sharing your experience

The continuation is that he emailed me the regarding the same poster I had consigned above (I did tell him I had a copy in better condition).
Anyway he told me that a collector was looking and was willing to to pay an insane price. I thought about it and consulted my wife

I got back to him and wanted to maybe go ahead. He replied that the collector had already acquired another copy which I have no problem with but his last line was

you snooze you lose

I should have told him to fuck off back to his mum's basement and play with his Ken accessories.

It wouldn't surprise me if he lurks here, and in that case you're basically saying that to him now haha.

The snarky "you snooze you lose" sounds like something he'd say.
Although it's unprofessional, it's his style.  A very nonchalant approach to his exponentially overcharging folks on common stuff, and extreme overcharging on higher end stuff.

I spoke with him on the phone a couple times.  I won't share everything discussed but I remember asking about a few posters of my favorite genre and he said something like "there are a few that are collectable but most are worthless.". I'll take my "worthless" stuff that are some of my favorites over hyped up, overpriced stuff any day.    8)

I will defer from you guys.  I haven’t bought much from David (he’s above my pay grade), and certainly have never sold though him (since I don’t believe in selling) but the few conversations I’ve had with him have been very professional and courteous.  For what it’s worth.

I'm not saying he's completely unprofessional.  It was OK chatting with him way back when, and for the most part, the few purchases were OK.  Way overpriced, but decent transactions.  Everyone does things their own way and that's their right.

He was certainly polite in his emails when he wanted my poster and the source of where/who I purchased obviously to try and get more..

I politely declined his request, If he has the ability to be courteous then why not be it costs you nothing just a few extra words or use chatgpt.
Anyway that's all folks

Totally understand your discomfort and/or unhappiness about it.
"You snooze, you lose" is a common idiom but for sure totally not courteous.

I had my lot too here, that arrogant grumpy old seller insulting me on this forum, telling me fuck off and that I have a small dick... and guess what, he even make a call here saying he would give the products I didn't pay for* to the next buyer from the forum.  Definitely a seller to avoid if you don't want insults and drama.   Some sellers are so cheap that they will do anything to have ends meet. He is one of them!  Arrogant, cheap and the brain of a bull!
*I paid for them buy the way, he is the one who forgot to include them in the consign package.

Crucifixion? Good. Out of the door, line on the left, one cross each.

Sorry to hear that, but sometimes it's not worth the hassle to do deal with people like that unless it's something you really want.

I guess that cinemasterpieces must have some whales so us little people don't count

He does have whales.  He's been in business a long time and wouldn't list those prices if he didn't.
