Last night, after turkey and all the fixins -- It Follows.

The posters (rear view mirror) are very cool and hark back the 1980s horror poster imagery, but was this flick a real turkey, imho. Bad acting, horrible continuity and overall, I felt it to be a weak attempt at something that could have had much better potential.

I think this would be a flicker/poster that fit into this APF board: http://www.allposterforum.com/index.php/topic,1964.0.html

After all the chatter here about the poster, I was expecting SO much more.  :-\

Was streaming it to the bedroom a few months back, fell asleep half way through, but have no inclination to watch the end...

Just watched Joe Kidd, with Clint Eastwood.
Easily one of his lesser efforts.
Yawn.

Gareth Edwards double bill, Godzilla and Rogue One. Didn't like Godzilla, did like Rogue One.

La La Land

Quite good! Agree with T seeing in cinema a good idea rather than small screen.

I'll write with a view to trying to not spoil it...

Some homepages to Umbrellas Of Cherbourg, quite a bit of dancing and singing, a little retro (1980's) music, jazz, bikini's, lots of LA landmarks, and occasional emotional moments one where I could relate to and make me think about a woman in my life.

For you retro poster lovers hey hey, there were a couple of scenes/ locations with each around a half dozen '30s to '60s movie posters promenantly displayed and a couple of advertising posters too, but I am guessing they all were reproductions due to either $$$ for originals or that they seemed quite colour saturated, possibly wrong size but not enough time to assess properly.

A good watch to pass the time and to avoid the muggy humid hot weather outside (in Oz). Enjoy :-)

Embarrassed to say that I just saw Gangs of New York for the first time.
I was a former Scorcese fan until Raging Bull, which I found to be an utterly depressing film.
Turned me off to Scorcese for a bit.

Gangs of New York is a masterpiece for everyone involved.
Easily one of my new favorite films of all time.

A shame about the boring-ass American posters, though.
Guess I'll have to find me some Japanese paper for it.

Just watched a few screeners. Passengers, Secret life of pets and trolls. Enjoyed all three but passengers script was more enjoyable

Trolls is Dreamworks best looking movie to date. So unique.

Last night, That's Entertainment III (1994), with repeat host from the first 2 installments, Gene Kelly   thumbsup.gif

And today, with the family (who had not seen it before), The Queen (2006), with AA winner, Helen Mirrin.  What a beautiful and well acted flicker.  clap

Silence has just opened in the UK (well at least in my part of the UK) and went to see it yesterday.

I generally don't read reviews in advance nowadays as I prefer to have as few preconceived ideas about a film as I can but I hadn't been able to avoid a general impression that it was overlong and a bit dull. It is difficult to disagree with both those verdicts: at 2 hours 45 minutes, with very little dramatic action and a lot of agonised soul-searching, it is not an easy watch. I think that the major problem I had with the film was with Andrew Garfield; he is centre stage for nearly the entire film and, although he emotes and puts his heart and soul into it, for me he simply isn't heavyweight enough for the part - he is literally too boyish somehow. It might have been more interesting if Adam Driver had been given the leading part - he has the more appropriate physical look, I feel.

Hey Conor!
Yes, Ive seen The Departed.
Quite a film.

Last night, I watched Frailty with Matthew McConaughey and Bill Paxton (who also directed).
Another of the better films I passed on in the last 15 years.
Creeped me out big time.
 cheers

Great flick.  Always fun coming across movies like that you've never seen.  Like finding a 20 in your pocket.  thumbsup.gif

 - Mockingjay Part 1 - ok
 - Mockingjay Part 2 - ok
 - The Age of Adaline - wife's pick, ok
 - Green Room - didn't know what I was getting into
 - Bone Tomahawk - didn't know what I was getting into
 - 13 Hours - good
 - The Boondock Saints - ok
 - Neon Demon - I've never come so close to vomiting during a movie before
 - Creed - in progress, good so far...

Others:
 - Magnificent 7 (2016) - good; should probably watch the original
 - Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates - wife's pick, made even funnier since it was my wife's pick
 - Finding Dory - kid's pick, in progress, good so far...

Hey Ted.

It was ok. A little slow paced at times, in my opinion, but it had some good tense moments and decent character development. I'm not one for explicit scenes, so a few scenes near the end were a little much for me.
Have you seen it already or looking for thumbs-up / thumbs-down?

No, I've already seen it.
And I agree, it was a bit slow at times and I'm not a big fan of grisly visuals either.
I gave it 3 out of 4 stars.
Impressed but not blown away.

I did just re-watch Guardians of the Galaxy last night, first time since theaters.
Didn't care that much for it at first, but was impressed watching it last night.
Lot of fun.

It's up there in my top ten movies. Surely one of the best endings ever.

And DiCaprio is my favourite modern actor. Incredible.

I've seen it a few times now and I seem to enjoy it more with each and every viewing.
Very impressed with every aspect.

Just watched "Blue Velvet" as it has had a short cinema re-release to celebrate it being thirty years old.

For a film in which various characters say on five occasions "it's a strange world" it is still very...strange, to say the least. I forget but it must have been shocking in 1986, or maybe more off-the-wall films could get made in those days, because it still packs a punch today.
