French Cancan (1954). Art by Brini. This particular Italian poster measures 79 x 110 inches!

The new Gilda re-release is excellent and unlikely to be widely available:

The old and the new combined:

I wrote Park Circus over the weekend (in the US, the UK and France) asking about the poster's availability to collectors, aside from copies sent to theaters that had booked the film.

I got replies from the marketing departments and was told that the poster will Not be available for purchase to the public, due to an agreement with the studio. These are, in part, what I received, via email, from 2 different Park Circus marketing execs :

"I'm afraid we can't sell the marketing material we create - the agreement we have with the studios mean we can only supply to cinemas to promote screenings."

"I am afraid these posters are not for purchase and are only available for cinemas/festivals that programme the film and have licensed a screening from Park Circus."

So unless some copies slip thru the cracks, it could be tough to snag one.

Yes, and I recall that Park Circus has stopped sales of their posters on Ebay before, although here are 3 on UK Ebay right now.

These are not on France Ebay currently.

Here is the large Gilda image on Park Circus website:

http://www.parkcircus.com/assets/0009/8103/GILDA-approved-emailable.jpg

That will print out at 19"x25" (150 dpi) if you really want a printed copy.

WCs and inserts are also around as well.

A restored WC was offered (and passed on, with a $6000.00 reserve), at the Cinevent Hollywood Poster auction, most recently.

A German magazine ad (cleaned up) for Nosferatu (1921), material for which is quite rare:

I'll be staying with Ron and Margaret Borst in a few days.  I'll double check to see if he still has it ;-).
I'll raise a glass to the illusion but drink to the reality.

Even tho the art was redrawn for the quad, they shouldn't have cropped the lower part of the image. The leaping rats and his claw-like feet are just too cool and creepy to have been left off that RR (imo).

Yup. Spot on. The rats make the image even creepier.  Shame they cut them out.

Went to a private reception to one of those lovely mansion houses near Regent Park. I assumed it will be full of tatty art and military memorabilia. Instead I found lots of beautiful posters. Including this one. This poster was his mother's. It is really huge...and beautiful. .. I couldn't take a pic... So HA.

Gone with the wind Italian 1950 Italian 1st release.

That's actually a photo of my poster - art by Fiorenzi - which I got from Heritage back in 2009. I'm not sure if it is first release or not - it is so difficult to know with Italian posters - but I am very pleased to have it.

Very nice and congrats on you having that GWTW 2F, Mark.  clap

As you said, Italians can be so hard to date. One thing that might possibly indicate it as a first release (just a hunch here), is the fact that this poster names MGM as the distributor (I love the red logo, too). I see HA says this is from 1950, and imdb indicates that GWTW first played in Italy, in Nov, 1951.

HA auctioned a locandina, also from the 1950s (the last digit of the year on the piece was damaged): http://movieposters.ha.com/itm/academy-award-winner/gone-with-the-wind-mgm-r-1950s-italian-locandina-125-x-2725-academy-award-winners/a/161419-51163.s On this release, the distributor was Loew's, Inc.

Several fotobustas that HA sold, name CIC as yet another, later distributor.

Thank you for the further info Jeff. So it would appear to be first release.

WoW Mark. I'm really happy (and jealous). Don't know if you would or not agree. But the colours and depth of this poster is quite something.  Particularly around her face...You feel her presence in the room!
