Son of Kong (1933 US 3S):

I'd eat a boatload of shark chum and gorilla droppings to get my hands on this one.
That scene from Son of Kong made me cry like a baby...
What a great poster.

A couple more from HA.

Hunchback of Notre Dame, The (1939 UK quad): One for the Brits, I'm assuming pre-war quads are quite rare:

Horror, The (1932 US 1S): This movie was made - and now mostly lost - but never received a national release:

So if this film was released on December 29, 1939 and Britain declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939, can this still be considered pre-war??

And yes War period, as it was released in 1940 over here....

As discussed on MOPO:

http://www.mail-archive.com/mopo-l@listserv.american.edu/msg57709.html

The inferior 1930s international re-release (right) recently sold for $10,000 at a regular HA Sunday auction.  What would the superior original release sell for?

There's already an $85,000 offer for it so people start demoing those walls and attics...

I am a bit bruised right now with the whole poster restoration thing and not buying ANY more posters for the time being.

But have to say...So many great Italian posters in this forthcoming HA auction.

Sadly, not the one Ballester poster that has me all Shaky-Shakira.... yes...the one and only

Whenever, wherever
We're meant to be together
I'll be there and you'll be near
And that's the deal my dear

1940s WC sized piece for the live stage production of "The Tell-Tale Heart," with Lugosi. Based on the date at the bottom, December 8th fell on Monday, in 1941 and 1947. So, based on Bela's look on the poster, Im guessing '47.  ;)

It WAS 1947.

"The production, a 40 minute dramatic reading by Bela supported by a reissue of the film Dracula, appears to have played in sleepy backwaters, but it gave Bela work, and more importantly a pay cheque. His contract for the tour guaranteed him $1,000 per week against 10% of the top gross plus, hotel accommodation, transportation from New York to the engagements and return transportation to his choice of New York or California."

I feel I just visited another world I shouldn't have

The mood of the video is really appropriate for the poster theme.

A video, shown within a tv, within a video, is different. That's our Tang!
