It's interesting, too, how Ricardo Cortez was delegated to the "fine print" credit section on the RR.

Gilda original release and re-release "variants" (isn't that what the cool kids nowadays call them?):

And dare I not mention the Australian one sheet:

Thanks Mel, I must say the red one wins hands down, but I seem to remember the last 42 release I saw in person was much Greener, and not so blue...

Just got the Christie's catalogs from Bruce's 1995 and 1997 auctions. As advertised, there are many exceptionally rare posters and other items in them, including:

African Queen, The (1951 UK 3S): Rare UK three sheet (text mentions that AQ was an English production):

2001 special one sheet:

Cleopatra (1934 standee 20x30 inches):

Amos and Andy one sheet:

Blonde Vampire (1922 US 3S):

I am almost out of all books, Mel. I think this Major auction will be the last one where I can give a lot of books as bonuses. After that, I will have a small number left as auction bonuses, and after that I will have the limited number of each I put aside when they were first printed, and those I will only offer at the original cover price.

Would you agree that looking at them in person is much better than looking at scans? I paid a huge amount extra to get the best color printer in the U.S.

The catalogs are very high quality but I prefer my digital collection since it can be sorted in unlimited ways (decade, genre, country, rating (the infamous "five star" rating system in iPhoto), etc.).

After you sell or give away your catalogs, your team should organize a master digital collection of your prior sales and put together some digital Kindle books in various categories (1920s classic posters etc.) and sell them.  As far as I understand, virtually all pre-1964 movie paper is in the public domain, so there are no rights issues.

I currently have 700 high-quality/unwatermarked/x-large images of "exceptional pre-1960 posters."  Of course, many of them individually - let alone in total - are far beyond my budget, so digital is the "next best thing":

I already have some not-too-great showcases on the Net:

Bruce & Co. have the original pictures of these and they should publish high-quality pics of them, in one format or another..

I'm testing out the new Flickr.  It is slow as molasses and is not as easy to use as it should be but the end results looks good.

I've spent many hours putting together a classic movie posters collection and I've uploaded 700 images (1000 pixels vertical) here:

Good advice Charlie but the last chickie told me "It's the posters or me!" What happened?  She's long gone, the posters are still here, I've been constantly broke for over four years thanks to this hobby, and - if anything - the addiction is getting worse!  But I do have a lunch date this week with an art gallery gal, who at least pretends to like movie posters....

She probably misheard you thinking you said "shiny toasters"    Good luck and, as great as they are, don't wear one of Bruce's t-shirts on the first date
