IN THE NAME OF THE ROSE-

I like this a lot. What a great image.

Too bad the poster is only 11x17, tho.

Is that the UKQUAD? WHATEVER IT IS clap

Yep.  This is one of the first posters I spent a lot of money on $60  :o because of shipping from the UK (quad bod)...  She even e-mailed and apologized for the shipping costs...  I can't remember when I bought it maybe 2001 or so...  I've only seen one other copy of this without AA stuff on it but not rolled.  I am sure everyone has one, but I've always been proud to have it.  It's a diva in my collection - "I don't even want to take it out of the plastic.  ;D

I like the poster, but the faces on conquest and famine leave a lot to be desired.

It went under the hammer for very little in Nov, little considering the price tags at HA.

Couldn't find a thread for Eastern European posters. I did not want to overload the forum with new topics. I do like the graphic design of some of these posters. And if I understand this correctly, they do have an excellent quality- printing process. Some artists are incredible I think. See what you think.

I've got one with no AA stuff on it! Folded though. Great poster, I love it.

A cool Bulgarian poster from 1961's Daredevil In the Castle. A Toho production with Toshiro Mifune and Isuzu Yamada (whose name is in red, near the top of the poster). The color on this poster is amazing!  bed1  It measures 26x36.

Oh Louie, boy oh boy :-\....

You broke my heart man..I was... I was... so very much hoping you would want to trade them for your ''ugly and dated'' vintage posters.

You see, but you never gave me a chance..

Instead

Nice poster but it's Ukrainian, not Bulgarian.

Rosa, you can take this whole line of disagreement to it's logical conclusion with the following....

The above is by far my all time favorite Polish poster -- one that I spent years tracking down in unfolded, unfaded condition, and that happens to be hand-signed by the artist (the above is HA's pic, not my poster).  This is what Louie had to say about it:

Maybe one of the ugliest movie posters ever made, as with 99.99% of all the other Polish "art" posters.

Don't lose sleep over it Rosa... different strokes for different folks apparently!

Harry

Lucky you! That poster is incredible. I would put that up in my wall next to Bogie right away. I am one who would die for a poster like Keaton's The Goat, and will kill (a chicken) for any Casablanca (SIX Sheet).

But I am with you on this, there are some others that you just have to have them..(you have to show us yours Harry).

Thanks for your post Harry, I do feel better.

Yup, still stand by it.  It's like they gave all those Eastern Europeans a bunch of paint by numbers sets.

Yes, Norma Desmond's madness is superbly depicted in that Sunset Boulevard Harry - poster art at its finest.

And THANK YOU Rosa for putting up that wonderful Czech The Name of the Rose. I managed to purchase the larger size from Wolfgang effortlessly thanks to your link.
