......... I much, much rather buy to a dealer, those selling in the street, on a stand that knows what he is selling (and cares). Plenty of those in London..

This is all quite intriguing to me Rosa. Where exactly are these multiple points of sale in London and in particular the people who are "selling in the street"? I assume this is a street market of some kind.

I go to Brick Lane and the streets nearby, Bacon St.  It is a matter of wondering around and see if we can find anything interesting. I tend to buy Lobby cards if I find any, posters are largely 60 and 70s.

And in Stoke Newington, they do Street Markets.

That's another beautiful Ballester, Rosa, from Benito's poster vaults.

The paper looks a little yellowed, overall (or ir could be just the photo).

If it is the paper, I bet a nice, warm bath would freshen her up nicely.   ;)

Glad to know that he's a good dealer. He has a Ballester that well, it is just unreal, I will die for that one.. i really, really, really would love that poster.

You can always make an offer, cash in the hand is better than poster in the drawer.

So true, David.

And to think he has 5814 movie poster listings currently on Ebay.  :o

That number is astounding.

His price range is from $42.00 - $70,000.00

Jeff, Sorry I have to ask, but do you mean the one below? Because like you say I too think that the poster looks a bit too yellow. I like it a lot, and it might just be that it needs warm bath and a good home.. !  :D

Thats the one, Rosa.

If it is actually a little yellowed or dirty, a mild wash/bleach and pH buffering bath (to neutralize the paper acidity) might be just the thing.

Plus some TLC in a new home!  :)

Anyone know why the border is partly white and partly acidified brownish? (Lower and left edges of previous image).

It is on quite a number of my Italian (only) posters. Strange lengths too. Do italians do something different to the rest of the world? Looks like maybe was clamped partly behind a frame or something.

Steve,

I was thinking the same thing. That it might have been framed at one point and that lighter area was more shielded from light. The hard "L" shape of the pattern certainly could suggest that; odd where it stops and starts, tho, too.

It looks like an odd sized L bracket/clamp, and on the other 2 edges are thumb tack marks. Anyone have a picture of italian posters in situ displayed/clamped?

I assumed the L marks were just the marks where it was clamped, so it was held and pressed against a window that opened in a short of L shaped (no?)

I might just check again Cinema Paradiso, just to see if there are any Italian Posters there, and how they are displayed. I will do some research!  coffee

i find this poster really weird. love it,

Wow, that's without doubt, so far ahead of any other poster for this title I've seen.
Mamma Mia.

I saw the pre-release version of Baby Face last night.  What a fantastic movie, and a stunning poster to boot.  I had forgotten how great an actor Stanwyck was...one of the best.
