Also, the same seller that Thierry referenced in the Ansin Bride sale from last night also sold a Moss SW set for $3,350 and his Evil Dead went for $811.

This is not a uniform data set for each print, even by the 'stars' as you put it.

I would say that as of right now, Moss, Ansin, and Stout, are the Mondo Holy Trinity, with Taylor next in line. An argument could be made that Moss is king right now, but that seat can easily be switched out ala musical chairs.

Youre correct, there is no exact science to it, but I feel we agree on the general idea... I think Taylor is really close to bumping up to one of the top dogs .. he just needs a good break with some solid titles .. and then he would move up the scale to where he belongs.

LOL .. I feel that its funny that we dont even consider one of Mondos most used artists  ... Whalen.. Hes not everyones favorite but the few that loved him may have gotten a little too much with the 101 Disney prints they let him do. Sometimes less exposure is more. ;)

Whalen's problem isn't the deluge of Disney, more than its the fact that everything he does looks the exact same, but without the character of a Stout or Eric Tan. IMO.

Oh, and it's really, really, bad.

I dont care for his style either .. But there are fans that love his work .. and those are the ones who may have gotten burnt out on his work.

FYI: I keep getting emails asking me if Martin has any more of his old prints for sell.  He does not.  The prints I helped him sell a couple years ago were all sold a couple years ago.  Sorry folks.

I have not seen the movie yet so I have no connection with that aspect of the print .. So in this case had it been just an art print with no title or credits I may have been more inclined to want it. But have placed new standards of buying upon myself so that I dont end up just unloading another 200 prints again next year. :P

Mondo needs more Jeff Kleinsmith, less Phantom City Creative.

No comparison.  Bob's by a country mile.
How was that one used and what size is it?
I'd chug a quart of Linda Blair's pea soup hork for a copy of that baby.

How many 'series' are going on now?

Disney
Star Trek
Zack Snyder
Studio Ghibli
Looney Tunes
Bad Whalen Pieces

Am I missing any?

Would be down for the next Ghibli, by far the best potential in terms of property they are working with, although that Taylor 20,000 Leagues was a beaut.

For you maybe... Ghibli, like most anime, is over rated crap.

Here's a question - what would be you least wanted combination?  I think that a The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 by Horkey would be high on my list of do not want...

I think it is a mistake to lump together all animated works from a given country into one word to begin with, yet alone dismiss all the works in this unfortunate category as 'crap'.

I would agree that the traditional 'anime' is mostly bad: Gundam, Vampire Hunter D, Ninja Scroll, Oh my Goodness!...you know, stuff that kids read in a Hot Topic wardrobe who sit on the floor in Barnes and Noble sipping on their Mountain Dew Code Red they sneaked in the store...those are usually terrible, but people like it for whatever reason.

I personally like most of Miyazaki's work, namely Totoro and Spirited Away. I feel that his creativity and story telling transcend most of the unfortunate stereotypes other work from his country gets labeled with. My daughter and wife really enjoy Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service, and it has been fun watching those with them. Ponyo is half a good movie (first half), while Howl's Moving Castle was mostly disjointed and not sure the fleeting moments of creativity are worth a viewing.

I would recommend some Satoshi Kon stuff, namely Tokyo Godfathers...
Again, nothing perfect, just enjoyable, and most certainty warrants a better personal resolve than a brush stroke adjective of crap. IMO.

I would almost say that TSOTTP 2 by Horkey would be worth it to see everyone on EB immediately drool over it and put it in their for sale thread a few days later.

But, a Daniel Danger COBS AND ROBBERSONS comes to mind..
