That's funny.  I haven't been that excited about a Mondo drop in a long time.  I think it's super nice.  I love the colors and the composition.  Ah... taste (or the lack of :))

Really like the regular version, but was busy at work so missed it. Nice print, bet it'll look good 'in the flesh'.

Ha, yeah I don't dislike it, Thierry...its a good entry in the Mondo series for sure. It has a great ye olde movie poster look to it, which is nice.

I am still standing by the Ken Taylor Poltergeist as the Mondo piece of the year. Might be the most underrated print they have put out, its really exceptional.

So... Anyone got this one?

I got the variant.

T

Very cool.
If Mondo started using the official film logos on all of their prints -- like this one and POLTERGEIST -- I just might start picking some of them up.
No logo -- no interest.

Ted, the prints are very slippery slope my friend. They all look like the normal run of the mill poster till you get one in hand, then the weight of the paper, and depth of the printing really starts to show up once you pull them out of the tube. No digital image can replicate the pop the silk screens have. I am a movie poster collector at heart, but the artistic take these poster prints have brings something back to the hobby that was lost a long time ago.

Long live Tom Hodge and here's hoping studios flood him with poster art requests.

Not a bad print, but does JP, the Avatar of its day (all special effects, possibly interesting premise devolved into low level storytelling), really deserve a boatload of prints?

Maybe I am underestimating them a bit. I have yet to see one 'in the flesh.'
Speaking of Hodge, have you seen his latest?

The JP print is the first I've liked in a long time.  I didn't and won't go through a drop again, though.  When the prices level off, I'll pick one up then.

I truly love the JP print.  So much in fact that I had to pull the trigger and do something that really hurt my stomach: Buy from flippers.  I own 175 prints or so, and this is the second time I'm doing it.  I got the variant from Mondo and spent $150 on the reg.  It sucks.

So no talk about this past MMM posters?? DotD !!?? I thought some members may be interested in those! :)

THE MMM event was amazing .. I think it can fall into an epic event category .. Unfortunately for me Im not a huge fan of 70's zombie flicks .. even if its DotD .. So the movie was a bit of a let down and when I first saw the posters on the projection screen I was like .. Meh .. But now that I have seen it in person its a nice looking poster .. I feel they got hung up on the idea of putting every zombie in the movie on there though.. I think a little restraint would have been great with this print .. To me there just seems to be a lot of similar looking zombie like possibly the same guy with different hair styles :P

Overall they did a great job .. But .. with the movie choices from MMMLA and IX .. I doubt I will be going to anymore MMM's .. If they announce a special screening of a movie that I like or think I will enjoy I would definitely consider going back for that!!

Well, I am really, really not impressed by this print, and by judging from the amount still on Ebay, I'm not the only one.  Granted, they printed 1,100 of them :)  But my take is, if you ask people to go to a screening, to physically go to a screening, at least you should reward them with something better than Mondo's weekly drops.  I think Jurassic Park is so much better.  But I heard that the actual screening was fun.  I met Romero twice at functions, and he's a nice guy, so I'm sure people enjoyed that.  And the screening was in a church, right?  Did you take any pictures, Dave?

I think the total run for both the regs and vars is around 900ish .. I tweeted a lot during the beginning of the day then had to cut way back due to my cell battery running low... you can see the pics and other stuff there (my twitter not the ADP one) http://twitter.com/#!/fallenangel1739 ..

As for the screening .. the Church was a decoy .. We all meet up there and got in a line and got wrist bands then 13 charter buses showed up and with a police escort !!! took us to the the Highland Mall and that was where the fun started with maybe 50-100 people were all dressed up as zombies and military!! As the buses pulled in the zombies were all beating on the buses and smearing blood all over and fire fights ensued between the military and zombie.. as they rushed everyone in side .. or attempted too a lot of us took a look around to check out the awesomeness .. then headed inside the mall where they had the screen setup and pizza and beer and a mondo table selling shirts and a print for The Shinning .. All the while the zombies were still running around up on the balcony and other were eating pizza :P

Oh and I almost forgot some awesomeness before the movie .. Justin was up front doing his thing and was tossing out edible organs and body parts and pieces of a baby that he ripped apart .. It was pretty crazy .. my fav part of the night was while Romero was giving his "I love austin/mondo speech .. Justin politely interrupted him asking him if he would "take care of that" .. He was referring to a zombie walking up to them stage left .. At that point Romero pulled out a hand gun and shot the zombie and then moved on with his speech ! :)

Can someone post a pic of the DAWN OF THE DEAD print.
For the life of me, I can't find one...

I really think it's an awesome print. Proctor is very much under-rated and unappreciated by "collectors" imo.
