Now if only there were an article on posters with real art - it would take up pages 1 and 2!

Haha good stuff.
You know I don't collect the posters. And sometimes I give them shit, but I am joking.
To me they don't feel "real" BUT, i kinda get it, and while they are commercial prints really, they are closer to art in that they are screen printed, not printed by a machine churning out thousands, and while they are advertising art, like movie posters, the focus this time is on art, not to (only) get bums on seats.

Shit, maybe I talked myself around, WHENS THE NEXT DROP?

Carry on,

I feel like they're two different hobbies altogether.  Ours (the good one) is based on original historical ephemera type artefacts. They have a story, survived the ages etc...

The new prints have a trendy street art thing going on, like shepard fairey but lacking the political message, so hey - lets just use movies for content.  They are beautiful and don't get me wrong - you need talent and expertise to make them, but I feel like its taking everyone for a ride in some respects.  Using films like Jaws and BBTF?  I bet most people at comicon haven't even seen all 3 BTTFs or Jaws.

Just look at the description for the upcoming Heritage auction.  Why dont they just say "created to cash in on the Lon Chaney original we sold for a quarter million dollars last year..."

Noted primarily as a sports portrait painter, Arthur K. Miller created this piece in 2015. The banner has been intentionally distressed for a vintage look with exceptional results. Inspired by the 1941 film The Wolf Man, the banner features Lon Chaney Jr. in the title role.

There's also a Bogart's banner with the same vintage look for the Maltese Falcon

Anyone snag a color Creature from the Black Lagoon? Seems like they were gone as soon as they were up. :\
Had to settle for the variant.

Missed here too - first time in ages. Think the flippers and their bots smelt blood...hopefully the secondary market will be saturated.

Same for me. I was even being bold this time and tried to snag both given the relative ease I've had the last few times.
They're already being picked off on the 'bay. Frickin' flippers.

Ha ha, I'm never brave enough to go for both! I managed to get a reg from a nice friend who picked one up in case I missed. I think it's a good looking poster, the 3D effect of the creature's hand reaching out (and breaking the border) is fun.

Wanted one of those too as it's quite the looker, but not on Twitter so didn't get the sell notice.  Sucks as it looks like the flippers seem to be selling most off on eBay.  Not a fan of that.

You don't happen to have another friend with a copy of the reg, do you? Would definitely be interested in it!

I don't so I'm afraid. I think that you'll be able to get this close to cost in time...especially around Mondo-Con where folks will be feeling the pinch and selling to free up funds, or when the eye is drawn to the next hot release. Be patient and you'll be able to grab it cheap.

I like Stan & Vince's work a lot -- this might be their best yet.
