Alien inside of helmet, eating a face.

Damn, lucky your smart. I thought it was someone peeking through a porthole and looking into a vagina stretching as it gives birth to the alien inside it.

You have been looking at too much of that daybill art.  ;)

Yeah, I agree with Ari.  Sorry Ben, I don't see it.  And I'd be the first one to buy it if I could.

It's decent. I very much prefer their new takes on older films. Couldn't care less about some recent film getting a print.

Not bad at all. It seems like Mondo just keeps releasing shit every week. I don't know how the print junkies out there can keep up.

The problem with Durieux is that his work looks very good (sometimes exceptional) from afar, and very shitty up close.  The guy is without a doubt talented, but I hate this dot matrix printing style of his.  I probably own 10 or so prints of his, and they all have the same 1980 Epson printer look.

I feel the same way about some of JC Richard's works.. I wondered if that effect may be more of a limitation of screen printing rather than a direct reflection of their "style". I think that Mondo could possibly try some giclee print runs on a few pieces and pull away from their traditional screen printing. With the kind of detail that you can get within a giclee I think it could allow for higher quality prints, faster turn around time and fewer errors during printing.

PS.. T If you happen to end up with an extra LOTR:TT Variant today and I miss out .. I want you to remember how good of pals we are on here! ;)

I thought he couldn't speak English?  Doesn't his brother write for him in English?

"Man, I love this movie! So retro-futuristic, so naive, so kitsch! That's really my dope! Robby the Robot is iconic which is why I had to put it as THE star of the movie poster. The original poster is just sublime, the colours are just so vibrant, and so I tried to emulate that impression on my own take of this science fiction classic. This poster is the piece that took me the longest to finish, almost 2 months! I think it was worth the effort and the number of layers!"

Anyway, two months is very impressive and I think the end result is a worthy companion/variant to the original poster.  I suspect it will "blow up" in value like his Jaws poster did. I would like to see some credits but I suspect they were omitted due to rights issues.

Pro tip: just buy the good ones/the prints you like. No one buys every Mondo.

I don't think you mean dot matrix.

I think what you are refering too is how he uses and manipulates things like simple shapes and lines to convey an extra color screen that isn't there.
If you think about it, its pretty amazing...his prints that have say 5 screens look like they have 8-10 screens because of how he designs...same way with this psuedo shading and sense of light. I have talked to a few graphic designers (from different states who don't know each other) that all are blown away at how he manages to manipulate the medium.

But point taken, however, I think it is designed to look fuller in a sense when you take the piece in as a whole. Does that makes sense?

No Dice. The closest I got was carting the print.  :'(

If anyone got lucky and isn't in love with the print, please PM me.  I am sure we can work something out.

Thanks,
John
