Did you score one, Tob?
It's an epic piece from Francavilla.

Really T, I am surprised that you didn't go for this one.
Is it the wrong decade?

Yes Ted, wrong decade, I don't own anything from the 50s.

No, I just don't think it's good.  To each his own.

Hi Ted - I did go for one...I'm feeling poor at the moment but it was hard to resist, I really it. The mutant, rockets, city in the background, colours, text - all fit together very nicely, it's a good composition. I think he's pretty good at the Universal monsters/horror/sci-fi (his Creature from Black Lagoon and Invisible Man prints are also good). I hope he does more.

I like Francavilla's bold, comic-book style.
He has created quite a following and is very productive.

I sold my tron mondo shit yesterday , years of wankers offering money for it, blah blah, a real friend loved it, and gave me cash, half what it's "worth" I hand delivered t. And so glad it's gone.

I was thinking today about this stuff, as I saw banksy prints.
They are alike.
Banksy the real deal is on a wall.
People buy the printed version.
These are not movie posters, sorry, they are whatever they are, but not movie posters,
Printing one or three for use and 97 for sale
I can do that.
Sorry
Glad you like them, and glad my tron went to someone who knows nothing about this stuff but just want it on his wall,
Grumpy again?
Ok

Agree, they're not real film posters. Some are pretty though...and I collect anything half pretty (including the odd commercial poster and crappy little promo posters).

It's all just ink on paper...it'll all be lost in time, like tears in rain

Yes they're commercial but Mondo has revived movie art illustration, which otherwise has gone the way of the dodo bird....

Did you guys buy anything this morning?  Not my thing at all.  In fact, I realize I haven't bought much from Mondo this year.  I don't know if the quality is down, or if my taste is changing, but nothing appeals to me lately.

I did not .. they were up for a long time today though. Lots of people were able to get all 4 prints. Just not my taste either, I haven't bought a lot of ANYTHING this year. However I did break down and buy a copy of JC Richards Walking Dead print the other day. That was my first in months!

This year the posters to beat are Durieux Jaws, Horkey There Will Be Blood, and the Moss Spirited Away (both versions, but especially the variant).

Agreed.  Although I didn't buy the Horkey.  Maybe I should have.  I'm not a fan of his, but I must say Blood was nice.

I bought 32 prints this year.  These 8 (Man of Steel is metal) are the only ones I should have bought.

Yeah, I am not a huge Horkey guy at all, but I appreciate his talent level which is off the charts in terms of free hand illustration.

I traded for a regular There Will Be Blood, and the minute I saw it, it was clear that it was one of the best and most thoughtful Mondo prints to date.
They even did a screen layer that 'ages' the paper to look period. It is very cool.

I would also put the Mitchell E.T. piece in my top favs this year, although not anything ground breaking or original, it is easy on the eyes and a great nostalgic piece for me.

ET reminds of my years at Amblin.  It reminds me of the Amblin logo.  I had fun over there, so it's a bit nostalgic.  Plus, I do love ET.

Cheers to a fellow E.T. fan. I love that movie, it is in my top 5. I remember seeing it in the theater when it came out and it blew my mind. Such a beautiful, quality film. My wife and I were in Austin last year for the E.T. screening for the Summer of 1982 and saw it in an original 35mm print...it was gorgeous. Got both McCarthy versions, of course.

My oldest daughter is 4 and wants to dress up like Gertie for Halloween, with the overalls, pig tails, sunflowers in a pot, the whole works. She wants to put this huge ET doll I bought her in a wagon and pull him around the neighborhood. She claims I have to be Elliot, haha...we will see. I will post a pic.

Just read this. Funny as I saw a couple spending nearly £200 in Bansky prints at John Lewis (an UK store) and I thought the same. These are prints...not even close to the real thing.

I don't like prints. But I suppose I will have to buy one if I ever wanted to be able to enjoy the Mona Lisa at home. Likely the Louvre is just few hours away from home  :)

New Yorkers recently had the chance to buy original Banksy Art for $60 a piece.
Only one was sold at half price.
Im sure the story is on the Ny daily site.

Really, Rosa?

To be fair, I don't think you understand what these "NEW PRINTS" really are, and its not really about one or the other/originals vs. prints at all.

Actually, I do understand what they are. And the concept and design behind it.

It is up to others if they like them, to me they are like prints.  Not my cup of tea.
