Your latest advertising poster acquisition
« on: December 09, 2010, 06:54:42 AM »
Found this racy 40x60 advertisement for Folies Bergere hidden away on France's Ebay.  I saw the show in Las Vegas at the Tropicana a few years ago.  They just ended it this year after a 50 year run.

Finally received the airline poster long at the top of my want list. 39" x 25". 1947. I'd say in NM condition if it was unbacked. I am very content right now  ;D It is my first Air France, but I also have 4 David Klein TWA's and an Air India.

This image is the sellers shot.

Thanks Ted, here are my others.

My preference is the older constellation (propeller) aircraft rather than the 747 if there are 2 versions.

I'm also curious about the Disneyland poster as only this one I have seen has florescent TWA writing (like on the New York poster) and what looks like incomplete pink band on the rocket above TWA writing. The photo is cropped as the rocket is complete and not cropped at bottom.

Ah, the Germany one is not a David Klein, but by S. Greco

Just received this one today, advertising Gevaert Film, circa 1950, 128cm x 90cm. The colors are strong just as in the pic below.

Nice poster.  Not sure if there's a name for that style of art, but it was everywhere in the 50's.  From ad posters, to travel posters, to TOM & JERRY cartoons

Thanks Steve.  Right now I have a mutant 1/2 noir and a 1/2 Egypt room - need a new house to separate the two because that mix just isn't working ;)

Definitely some of the best posters we've seen this year, Chris!

In a parallel universe, I'm collecting more of these travel posters :)

My sister makes a big deal of her Norwegian heritage, so I have tried to go for some of the Norway posters in the past.  They always end up shooting past my point of pain.  I solved by the problem by picking up paper from Song of Norway for a couple of bucks.  I gave her a framed insert and spent $50 to frame a $1 poster.  She was absolutely thrilled.

Beware of the Holiday.  His wallet is deep.  His reach is long.  He's probably on his way over to you right now.

I don't really follow modern posters, but this poster, whatever it is: apparently something to do with Cars 2 movie, is a rip off of an old advertising poster from the 50s
