I spotted a poster I wanted on Ebay and thought, Sod my self imposed budget I'll bid on it. I email the seller bluewater247 and asked for a photo of the back of the poster to see how bad the damage was. Within a couple of hours there was a bid on it?? now he knew someone was interested in it. When I looked deeper into it, someone with only 3 feedbacks in 3 1/2 years and has never bid on a poster before has bid on two of this guy's items totalling $2000!!!!! I looked into the feedback of this Dodgy seller and found that a buyer brdi99 with 3 feedbacks has in the last 3.5 years only ever bid on items from Bluewater247?Huh?? VERY VERY ODD. I was quite prepared to pay the starting bid and the extortionate postage, but god knows what he's bumped it up to now, and I'm not fond of have the piss taken financially speaking, and as much as I would like the poster he can shove it where the sun don't shine.

It's things like this that make Ebay shite. Why can it not be open and above board, lets see everyone's name and address ( Que Bruce ).

Anyone thinking of using this seller be aware you are paying more than you should, and are being bumped up by the seller himself.

I assume you are talking about this
http://cgi.ebay.com/LAUREL-and-HARDY-1942-A-HAUNTING-WE-GO-/280598154878?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4154f40e7e

If he is in fact bidding on his own item, then simply don't bid, and he will have to pay eBay its very hefty commissions on this item, teaching him a very expensive lesson.

Good catch Paul! It would be interesting to see the bid history of his other items (that brdi99 did not win). I am sure people do this but Bruce makes a good point with the charges. So, why not just set the price at what you are willing to let it go for. No integrity...

As Bruce rightly says I will not be bidding.

I have checked feedback for both, and there is something Very fishy going on!

If you really want it, after the bidding is over, send a diplomatic email saying "in case the buyer doesn't pay, please relist this as a Buy It Now for $_____ and I'll buy it."   If you get it through Buy It Now, rather than an off-Ebay deal, you'll have good buyer protection.

Good Idea, Worth thinking about Mel, but People like that deserve not to sell anything, and need kicking off ebay.

Bruce

He won't pay anything.  If his shill wins then he'll file a NPB claim and recoup his fees.  He probably has a few shills at his disposal so as not to get any one shut down

I've tried to do a deal once with a known shill and had it blow up in my face..... he tried every dirty trick in the book to screw me over and I ended getting a empty poster tube...... Stay away Paul it's not worth the potential headache.

What is it with some people receiving empty tubes.... Thank goodness I have not experienced that yet.

I think they send the empty tube so they can provide paypal with a tracking # and thus ending your claim against them...... a very dirty trick.

Thankfully, i hae never had that happen..matter of fact I received a poster in a tube that took longer to get here then expected...i bought the poster cheap..i never actually thought about getting an empty tube but that would be down right dirty and I wouldnt stop to nail the person who did it.
