Christmas Day Favourites
« on: November 06, 2010, 01:13:16 PM »
In a blink of an eye Christmas will be on our doorstep once again. What seasonal movie is a must to make Christmas that little bit special ?
My Choices would be Harvey,Die hard and Planes,Trains & Automobiles.....The last one is technically Thanksgiving..but hey  :)

Apart from the usual one's I must have large doses of The Marx Bro's, and Laurel & Hardy. Dance of the Vampires is a must due to the atmosphere the film has. ( that's Fearless Vampire Killers in the U.S.)

I do like the Bass/Rankin Rudolf the red nose Reindeer. quite the ticket.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL (1938)  Although I prefer Alistair Sim's performance in the 1951 version, I grew up watching the '38 version so it has a special place in my heart.  It's a movie that always puts a smile on my face and fills me with the Xmas spirit

I'm a big of fan of skipping the classics (Its a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street, etc...) and celebrating alt-christmas.  I would higly recommend:

Die Hard
Lethal Weapon
The Thin Man
Trading Places
Gremlins
Eyes Wide Shut
The Apartment
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Scrooged
Black Christmas

Ho, Ho, Ho.... Now I have a machine gun!

Another vote here for Gremlins.

Although my all-time favourite is Disney's animated Mickey's Christmas Carol!!!

One of my favorite holiday films is the 1934 Laurel and Hardy classics, MARCH OF THE WOODEN SOLDIERS (aka BABES IN TOYLAND). I never go through the Christmas season without watching it at least once.
