Hi all

I have been lurking for a little while and wanted to join the conversation.
I found this site searching for threads about Alamo Drafthouse posters.
I live in Austin and have been going to the Alamo since they opened their doors but only recently started getting their posters. My first was the Blues Brothers and after that I was hooked.

I have always had an attraction to print art. I have a lot of music festival posters (ACL fest, Bonnaroo) and was collecting Alex Ross stuff for a while. I look forward to chatting with you guys about your collections.

Welcome to the forum, Ken, and sorry about not letting you in the first time around.  We have a tough time identifying who's legit and who's not.

A lot of us collect Alamo posters.  Some, like me, only collect the nice ones, others, like Fallenangel, concentrate on the crappy ones ( puke2).  Like my mother used to say, "Money doesn't buy taste."

In all seriousness though, glad you could join us and looking forward to your input.  When you get a chance, check the Alamo list I've tried to compile and let me know if you have anything to add.

Welcome Ken! I am becoming more of a fan of the Alamo posters. However, with enough time here you will be brought over to the darkside (originals)....

Welcome Ken.  Austin is a great town (I am from Dallas myself), and you are in the most unique position of being able to get those prints at the source.  I think you are in the right place, as there are several avid collectors and a lot of good info around here regarding Alamo/Rolling Roadshow releases.

Yea I really like going down to the store and chatting with the Alamo and Mondo folks they are really great.
they usually rotate a lot of the prints at the store so it like a new gallery every time you go.

When I went to see if I could get a head start on the sale last week they had the stack of Dead Alive (reg and V) sitting on the table and I couldn't resist getting the variant, I got #17 so by the time the sale started the next day there were probably only 25 left of the 45 issued. I think its great but the wife will never let me display it, probably see if anyone wants to trade for some old sci-fi or bond

Hi Ken

I'm into Alamo posters too, been collecting them for only about 6 months and got quite a few already - nervous about tomorrow's drops - you know what I mean. And for those who wanna say "collect vintage", I do as well for many years but my current craze is artist silk screen movie posters like Alamo and Alien Corsett.
Cheers

Hey, Jonkino, check out APF member fallenangel's new ALAMO sight here...it's probably the most comprehensive site devoted to these cool posters....
