Who knows?
There's something due any day;
I will know right away,
Soon as it shows.
It may come cannonballing down through the sky,
Gleam in its eye,
Bright as a rose!

Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Under a tree.
I got a feeling there's a miracle due,
Gonna come true,
Coming to me!

Could it be? Yes, it could.
Something's coming, something good,
If I can wait!
Something's coming, I don't know what it is,
But it is
Gonna be great!

With a click, with a shock,
Phone'll jingle, door'll knock,
Open the latch!
Something's coming, don't know when, but it's soon;
Catch the moon,
One-handed catch!

Around the corner,
Or whistling down the river,
Come on, deliver
To me!
Will it be? Yes, it will.
Maybe just by holding still,
It'll be there!

Come on, something, come on in, don't be shy,
Meet a guy,
Pull up a chair!
The air is humming,
And something great is coming!
Who knows?
It's only just out of reach,
Down the block, on a beach,
Maybe tonight . . .

OUR 11TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN AUCTION STARTS TONIGHT AND THURSDAY NIGHT AND CONTAINS NEARLY 1,400 ITEMS!

Bruce, have you seen a down turn in bidding on linen pieces? I personally will not own a linen backed poster and I know a few others that feel that way, but just wondered what the general current market feel is on these items as to gaining ground or losing ground in value with collectors.

I'm with Dale on this.  No linen posters unless I do them myself.

I would say that those who primarily collect "newer" posters (those post 1970) are often very anti-linen, and of course I see no reason to buy any post 1970 poster linenbacked when you can almost certainly find it off linen.

Those who primarily collect really older items (pre-1950) have learned you can't be very choosy! For example, tonight I added a 1943 Return of the Vampire one-sheet that seemingly SHOULD be "around" and yet no one seems to have it. Now this one is NOT backed, but had it been backed, that would not lessen any serious collector's interest in it, because they know they might not see another one for YEARS.

I would say it is those "in the middle" (who collect mostly 1950s and 1960s posters) who sometimes are fine with linen, and sometimes hate it.

I would also say that the massive counterfeiting scheme, which involved solely restored posters and cards which later proved to be fakes, did create a lot more anti-restoration sentiment among those who had been "on the fence". That is a shame, first that one low life scum scam artist, and one massively bone-headed restorer (if his story is to be accepted) did so much damage, and secondly because the vast majority of restored posters are absolutely fine to own (and this was a one-shot scam that is unlikely to ever be repeated, even in a small way).

I personally have nothing against quality minimalist restoration. I hate bad restoration, and also the kind that "makes it look perfect", which often makes the item looked "dipped in paint".

Am I the only one having issues with the layout starting on pg10 (if you do 80 items per page).  The page is stretched horizontally, and there are no items on the proceeding pages.  It's been like this since last night when the auction went live.

Keep selling the linen-backed posters, Bruce.  They look great framed and some collectors like me will pay extra for them.  The folds on some of my posters (e.g. Downhill Racer) really detract from their appearance when framed.

Good to know I'm not the only one

The later-listed posters are from next Thursday's auctions, not next Tuesday's.  Emovie doesn't show posters more than a week in advance.

Part I of our 11th Annual Halloween 2010 Mini/Major Auction closes TONIGHT, November 2nd, beginning at 7 PM CST (just 13 hours from this writing)!

As of this writing, with just 13 hours to go, the 751 horror & sci-fi items include a wacky 87 that are $5 each and under, an absurd 148 that are $10 each and under, and a mind-boggling 247 that are $15 each and under! THAT'S RIGHT, ONE THIRD OF THE ITEMS ARE $15 EACH OR UNDER, and REMEMBER THAT THE PRICE YOU BID IS THE PRICE YOU PAY (plus actual shipping cost) AND EVERY BUYER GETS A GREAT FULL-COLOR T-SHIRT (and an option to buy the $85 CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT book for just $24.99), AND CLUB MEMBERS GET INCREDIBLE ADDED BONUSES FOR BUYING 5 TO 12 ITEMS FROM BOTH PARTS COMBINED (see below)! Note that we have NO 20% or 25% buyers premiums that every other major auction has!

We purposely included a wide selection of more affordable items in these auctions, specifically to make it easy for anyone who wants to win one item for the FULL-COLOR T-SHIRT (and chance for the huge discount on CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT) to do so, and this also allows anyone who wants to get 12 inexpensive items (see below) to do so for a very reasonable amount of money. GIVEN THAT MOST OF THESE ITEMS ARE CURRENTLY AT HALF OR LESS THAN PREVIOUS SALES FOR THAT ITEM, THIS SURELY REPRESENTS ONE OF THE GREATEST BUYING OPPORTUNITIES IN THE HISTORY OF ONLINE AUCTIONS!

But wait! There's even more! If you are one of the 6,538+ members of our weekly e-mail club (and if you are not, you can join right now at http://www.emovieposter.com/mail/clubsignup.php and it is fine with us if you join just to get the bonuses, and you can quit once you receive them), you get great bonuses if you purchase between five and twelve of these items, and we even pay the U.S. shipping on the bonuses (if you live outside the U.S., you pay the difference between U.S. shipping and the actual cost of getting them to you). Read on:

    * Buy 5 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books
    * Buy 6 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, plus the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack
    * Buy 7 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books
    * Buy 8 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books, plus The Movie Poster Book
    * Buy 9 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books, plus The Movie Poster Book, plus Crime Scenes
    * Buy 10 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books, plus The Movie Poster Book, plus Crime Scenes, plus WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT WAS!, the great long out of print softcover book about blaxploitation movies
    * Buy 11 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books, plus The Movie Poster Book, plus Crime Scenes, plus plus WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT WAS!, plus the great "flip book" edition of Reel Art
    * Buy 12 items TOTAL from either or both parts and get the 9 Vintage Hollywood Posters books, the Learn About Movie Posters book and our Movie Poster Sales Results Megapack plus a set of our remaining 10 in-print books, plus The Movie Poster Book, plus Crime Scenes, plus plus WHAT IT IS, WHAT IT WAS!, plus the great "flip book" edition of Reel Art, plus FILM POSTERS OF THE RUSSIAN AVANTE-GARDE, the first edition hardcover

WHILE THERE WILL SURELY BE MANY ITEMS THAT SELL FOR HIGH PRICES, THERE ARE ALWAYS SOME (or a lot of) ITEMS THAT GO FOR "BARGAIN" PRICES, AND SHOULDN'T YOU CONSIDER GETTING SOME OF THOSE BARGAINS FOR YOURSELF?  When you consider that you can purchase any 12 items (even the 12 least expensive) from both parts combined, and receive approximately $600 retail in movie poster books (plus a t-shirt), then doesn't it absolutely make sense for you to make an effort to buy 12 items and get those items plus all the bonuses for one low price?

Don't forget to check out the 751 TUESDAY ITEMS (Part I of our 2010 11th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN MINI/MAJOR AUCTION) on our website sometime BEFORE they end TOMORROW, Tuesday, November 2nd, beginning around 7 PM CST by going to http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/13.html

And also be sure to check out our 605 THURSDAY ITEMS (Part II of our 2010 11th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN MINI/MAJOR AUCTION) on our website sometime BEFORE they end Thursday, November 4th, beginning around 7 PM CST by going to http://www.emovieposter.com/agallery/14.html.

And now you can browse the items in ALL of galleries at one time in our All Auctions gallery!

We know that many of you like to wait for the "last minute" to place your bids, but remember that if you do that, it is easy to either forget to bid or to get busy watching several items and miss the end of some or all of them, so there are also pluses to bidding before the auctions begin to end.  And remember that there surely WILL be lots of last minute bids placed, so just because you have the high bid with a short time to go, you should still go back to the auction right near the end, and see if anyone else outbid you, so you have a chance to re-bid, if you choose to.

Good luck on whatever you may bid on in our current 2010 11th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN MINI/MAJOR AUCTIONS ending on November 2nd and 4th!

P.S. If you have ever registered for our auctions but not logged into your account for over one year, then you will find that your account has been made "inactive", and that you can not place a bid (we do this to make sure that only real bidders bid in our auctions!). Therefore, if it has been a year since you have logged into your account, and you wish to bid in the current auctions, it is important that you contact us at least two hours prior to the end of the auctions, so that we can "re-activate" your account (just click on the contact us link and it will open an e-mail to us with the subject pre-filled in, and we will get your account "re-activated").
