LA Central Library Movie Poster Collection
« on: November 17, 2016, 07:18:09 PM »
This blog shows and highlights a number of the posters that the LA Central Library owns as part of its Hollywood memorabilia collection. The Mummy OS is also included.  ;)

This is how the posters were framed and displayed. This image is not from the above blog.

I also recall this one and how Mary Astor's signature, placed just so on her shoulder, caught my eye.  ;)

That's a fantastic poster. The thing about most exhibitions is that they are by nature temporary and then the exhibits disappear back into storage (I presume), which is a great shame.

I mentioned in a post on another thread about MOMI in London (now closed): what happened to the posters in their collection - did they disappear into storage somewhere or perhaps find homes in other museums somewhere?

Do owners of such material loan them for display. entrusting their handling to unknowns?

Must admit, without much conversation and confidence receiving, I would be very unsure of loaning my meagre best bits.  Fair play to those that do though.

The LA Central Library display of movie posters continues and is still up on display, for anyone to view, free of charge. (Along with many other historical, Hollywood-related collections.

Also, have you ever been to a library with a restaurant menu collection and citrus label collection, Jeff?  Let's all meet in L.A.!   Okie

Veggies, not citrus... but I have one label hanging in my kitchen, too. You got any, Okie?

Conestoga goodness!  I think I do have a couple, Jeff.  I just haven't seen them in awhile.  I know I have some cool Tom Mix cigar box labels, I found in Oklahoma many years ago.  I'll have to dig those out one of these days.  Okie
