So as I'm new to this, I've run into a little snafu. I love one sheets but I also like the value Mondo posters hold.. now I know most mondo posters have a similar art work with one sheets, but which is truly better? Are there one sheet movie posters that cost as much as mondo posters and more? Is it possible to get rare one sheets like mondo posters? Which is a more impressive collection to have? Right now I have started buying one sheets of just recent movies me and my kids have seen together, and that's how I started this whole mess. I have purchased two mondo posters from their website but dang they are expensive if I must say. I don't expect anyone to tell me what I like more but what is your opinion of the two?
I think I've answered this question in the other thread, but I'll try again...
now I know most mondo posters have a similar art workNo they don't. Mondo posters are the work of modern artists and are completely different
Are there one sheet movie posters that cost as much as mondo prints and more? One sheets are cheap, and so are prints if you buy them directly from Mondo and not from the scavengers. $50-$60. Modern posters are also cheap - between $5 and $50. Most will never be worth more than that, while Mondo prints can increase drastically. Very few modern posters increase in value, but you can always watch Emovieposter.com weekly sales to see which ones are worth a little something.
Is it possible to get rare one sheets like mondo posters? Not really. 1000s of posters are printed, and usually less than 400 Mondo prints. Which is why the scavengers buy them and hope to flip them.
Which is a more impressive collection to have?Older posters. There is nothing impressive about modern posters or prints.
More importantly, I think oldposterhero said it all: The more impressive collection is the one that makes you happiest. Don't collect for other people, keep on doing what you're doing and collect what is relevant to you and your family.
You should not collect for investment, but for pleasure. Chances are you won't be able to recoup your investment. If you only collect modern stuff, I think you'll have a much better chance with prints than posters. At least right now. But who knows. The 80s are doing very well right now. I bought most of my 80s collection from 2002 on, when prices were low. And then it caught on. I would probably be able to sell it for x5 what I paid for it. If you only buy recent posters and hold on to them, they could be worth x5 by 2040.
