there are 10 Paul. 2 spots where one is overlapped on another

Definitely eight in the UK sets of FOH.

What I believe you are seeing there is someone's idea of artistic shadow in white.  Place the still in the area where you will then see some white bordering on two sides, or, shadow.

Anyway, what would be the point of overlapping two stills, making one of them entirely redundant?

I think you're missing the point here fella.

Look at this link for offset shadow.

https://www.webpagefx.com/blog/web-design/css-box-shadow/

Look at the section half way down for Horizontal Offset.  And this will tell you what is happening with the space in the Marler.  You pop the still in the square, and you will have off set White shadow.  That the space for the still and the resultant off set shadow are both white shouldn't be confusing you into thinking something else goes there...!

Make sense now?

until I actually see a photo of a setup or someone involved in such setups at the time, I wouldn't be so sure that area is meant to be blank

as to there only being 8 cards to all FOH sets, we're not all sure of that - for all titles, including british & australian fellows

I recently picked up a large group of Chandler FOH pieces, including these. All clearly original release, all with an A rating indicating they are for distribution in the homeland and not Ireland or other colonies.

btw: web offset shadow has nothing to do with the display in this case. The area being blank in this setup is incongruous to such a method as shown elsewhere above & below.

Most likely, if there aren't 10 pictures to mount, there are 2 text elements that belong in those locations

Oh for the love of God.  It was an example demonstrating shadow, not a connection between poster designs of the 80's and web design of the 10's...

You being politely informed, in the case of Odeon-only Marler Haleys, there were eight stills only, and no further text (or bits of half shown still) to be added over and above.  The text is printed to the poster anyway - why would they glue any other text on?

IF however, you can show me, or Paul, a Marley display WITH 10 stills and/or affixed bits of text, then I will concede.  But bearing in mind how many of these I have personally seen, I sincerely doubt there will be anything new to learn here.

Simes, you don't get it from an advertising or design perspective - there has to be something that goes there, otherwise it is a design flaw.

for my money, I say that it is 2 over-lapped stills. Sure, there may only be 8 color FOH stills to the Alien set, but who says they are color stills for the display? You have B&W also, right? It's an obvious placement area.

No, everything Simon had said is correct..

It may look odd, but it only takes the 8 stills.

Yes, there are some UK FOH sets with more than 8, but this is the odd set, and not the norm.

Me too.  Was wondering if I wasn't explaining it right.  Maybe there is in fact a new 'L' shaped still unbeknown to us that goes there...??

Thanks for clarifying about the NOES set Paul.  I still think it's odd that such an obscure (at the time) movie got the royal treatment though...

For those waiting for Rich to admit he could be wrong... I think you should start with an easier goal like getting Trump to admit a mistake!   ;D

So true!!!

Okay, now that we're done with the American Werewolf saga, can some of you post your Marler posters.  I'd like to see more of them, complete or incomplete.

I'll start with those three, which I posted on the Star Wars board.

If anyone can lead me to the other 2, I'll pay big $$$.

Or this guy...

Not quite sure what went around it.

Probably because of the color scheme, Matt was under the impression that the quad below was part of the display, but I don't know for sure.

Those CEOTTK Quads T, the top one is from the later Special Edition release.

As for the other, most likely from the first release..

Nice Tales set, btw.

So when did MH start their theater setup and when did it end?

How movies got the MH treatment?

Is there any way to know?

Definitely the top one is, it's from the re-release, or special edition release..

As for the other, it could be, I've not seen a full MH set for the first release

MH at the Odeon started around the mid 60's and stopped around the mid 80's. There's no way of knowing how many or what they did, I' and several friends have tried to find out, but came up blank so far...

I wish it was a full set for Tales...  but I do have a maybe one off set for Vampire Circus, I'll post at some point.
