Can any US chaps help me with shipping?
« on: November 20, 2017, 05:14:16 AM »
Hello,

Well, I won one out of my five lots that I bid on in the recent Heritage auction and I need to get his over to the UK.

Heritage charge quite a bit on US to UK shipping and with the ridiculous import fee added on it can sometimes make a good deal a not so good one.

Is there anyone from the US who is willing to get my package shipped from heritage to them and they then send it on to me?

Thanks
Marc

P.S For info purposes it's one folded poster.

Rich, many thanks my friend. I'll definitely do this from next time onwards to save me from creating a new topic every time I win something from Heritage lol.

I wonder how much you were charged for a "Poster - Small, flat" package from US to UK.

As per their pricelist, he doesn't seem much - $4.86 first item + $0.32 per additional item + insurance (10 to 60 USD)

Marc

Regarding the VAT charged on goods imported to the UK, this was posted (by Rosa, I think, who used to post here regularly I believe) on another forum some time ago, don't know whether you've read it:

 http://vintagemoviepostersforum.com/discussion/2074/uk-buyers-be-aware-import-tariff-and-how-to-claim-it-back

I haven't tried using it myself, it sounds a labyrinthine process as you would expect and perhaps not worthwhile for smaller purchases but definitely worth using if the rebate runs into hundreds (and even thousands) of pounds.

I know what you mean about postage and shipping costs - it stops me from bidding on lots of things from outside the EU (and of course we will shortly get taxed on EU imports soon when we wave it goodbye).
