I was at Wal Mart yesterday & picked up a couple movies out of the $5 bin (I don't like spending $19 on too many movies).
well, I'm a fan of Clive Owen and so when I saw a video called "Shoot 'em Up" with him on the cover, I knew I had to buy it. What a fun movie!! In some ways it spoofs a number of things, like Clive driving BMW's in the movie and it takes on what Clive would have been as James Bond, and it was just lots of fun. I recommend this to everyone on the list..
then today I was at Big Lots! and they had $3 dvds.. and I picked up a few including MIB, 7th Voyage pf Sinbad and the Black Dahlia.. I have the Black Dahlia on right now and fortunately, there is only a 1/2 hour left. I don't know what it is about DePalma movies.. some are incredible, others - like this one - are excruciating to watch!! I'm only trying to finish this so I never have to think about watching the last bit at a later date.. terrible screenplay, slow pacing.. another waste of $3 and more of a waste of 2 hours of my life......

I agree with you 100%. I didnt make it to the one hour mark before I waved the white flag. I like the idea of this movie...A sorta tribute to film noir( at least thats what I think thats what its supposed to be). The execution is just not good at all.

Shoot 'em Up was one of my favorites, Rich. I laughed my ass off. Clive was perfect...and Monica Bellucci...she's special, eh? Loved every minute of it.

I loved Shoot Em Up as well, but I could see where it may not be for everyone. The Bugs Bunny spoofs were my favorite part of the film.

The Book of Eli was much better than The Road.

I thought The Road was a better film overall, but it definitely was bleak. Book of Eli was more fun, but Mila Kunis was horrendous and really took a lot away from it for me.

Book of Eli was okay.. but if you saw Children of Men and Road Warrior.. well, there was the whole plot to Book of Eli in those 2 movies

Yeah it sucks and as a filmmaker we have no control over that stuff. It already puts people in a bad mood before they even get to watch your film.

I've never seen 11 trailers in front before.. I hate it when you see 2-3 but some dvd's have 5 there's also that dvd company that has the US Patriotic country song (it's a political conservative bent imagery thing) for 4 minutes before the menu and they don't let you skip it. Very irritating.
I PAID FOR THIS DISC! I PAID FOR IT. If you want to advertise to me.. give me the disc for free and I'll watch your commercials. I don't even wear shirts that sport the maker's logo
