Week in and week out we auction hundreds of items that sell for low, low prices. Our current Sunday items (229 glass slides, magazines, presskits, German programs, and bulk lots) comprise one of our better Sunday auction to date, and yet there are lots of excellent items still at low, low prices!

Our Auctions This Week Are Truly "Special" Auctions!
Many people who auction movie posters say they have a "special" auction, when all they have is posters that retail for a greater amount of money, but which regularly come up for auction over and over again.  We at eMoviePoster.com think that the term "special" should be reserved for items that you truly almost never see!
    Since almost all standard-sized posters (one-sheet size and smaller) turn up with regularity, the only really "special" items are either larger-sized, or unusual special items.  We gather up all such items for quite a while and then present them in one truly special auction, and that is what is contained in this week's Thursday set of auctions.  You will also find three-sheets and six-sheets in our Tuesday auctions, and those are of course far more rare than smaller-sized posters.
    If you are the type of collector who likes truly rare items, then we advise you to very carefully look over all of the items in our Thursday auctions (and the three-sheets and six-sheets in the Tuesday auctions), both because you will surely see many items you have never seen before, and because you may well find items you want to add to your collection, and you may even get them for reasonable or bargain prices, because sometimes larger posters sell for less, because there are fewer collectors who pursue them!.

Week in and week out we auction hundreds of items that sell for low, low prices (we actually sell lots and lots of items for $1 and $2, and a decent percentage of what we auction goes for $14 and under, and our leading 'competitor" NEVER auctions a single item for less than $15, due to their outrageous $14 minimum buyers premium).

But Tuesday night's 700 three-sheets (41" x 81"), six-sheets (81" x 81"), British quads (30" x 40"), and Argentinean posters (29" x 43") (closing tonight, on the 2nd of February) represent REALLY incredible values (some of the three and six sheets are selling for PENNIES per "sheet"!), and that includes a lot of decent titles, and yet many of these are currently languishing at low, low, prices!

With just 13 hours to go, the 700 three-sheets, six-sheets, British quads, and Argentinean posters include 66 that are still languishing at just $1 each, a surprising 185 that are still at $3 each or under, a silly 236 that are $4 each and under, and a mind-boggling 313 are still at just $6 each or under, and there are lots of better titles in this "bottom 313"!

HELLO! This is 2010, and I doubt you could have purchased these posters for $6 or under 20 years ago!  And $6 is 40% of the MINIMUM cost at those other auctions, and and you can get as many as you want sent in one package anywhere in the U.S. for just $10 shipping for all (or actual cost anywhere else), EVEN IF you win 100 or more!

One suggestion I would make, not that I have a clue other than my own personal purchasing...

Separate your like auctions. Don't run a lobby card set and individual lobby auctions the same week (Tues/Thurs), or a still and lobby auction the same week. Likewise running 2 large format auctions the same week. 1) Same people will tend to bid on this stuff, granted your deep pocket bidders dont have a budget, but joe poster has limited funds and you are making them choose. 2) You lose me all together for a week if you run stills and lobbys for example as I have no interest and I'm sure there are others that are the same way with other types of groupings. The futher you can get on the collecting spectrum from Tuesday to Thursday the better I like it!

I see your point Dale, and it is a totally reasonable one, but there is another side to the coin. By matching "like items", it gives the guys who DO like those items a chance to combine even more of them, and it gives guys who DON'T like those items a week of "breathing room" where they don't need to check our auctions at all (while there are many people who like checking every single set of our auctions three times a week, there are others who are extremely busy and they like not having to look at all some weeks).

I can't please everyone, so I try to please myself (not really, but that's what Rick said at his Garden Party).

I WANT TO POINT OUT TWO EXCEPTIONAL ITEMS CLOSING IN JUST 8 HOURS!

One is "1c102 NEW WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE glass slide '32 great cartoon image of Minnie & Mickey!". This is from the brief period in 1932 to 1934 when United Artists distributed Disney cartoons, and the few surviving one-sheets from this period have sold for $50.000 to $100,000. If YOU have always wished you could have this period represented in your collection, this is absolutely the only affordable way (and I have never seen this slide before)! Currently it is at $229, and that seems like a real bargain to me!

The other is "1c079 7 FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN glass slide '29 Thelma Todd & Creighton Hale are the Devil's guests!", This is one of the rarest, coolest early horror films ever, and yet, because virtually nothing survives on it, it is not well known by collectors. In all our years of selling half a million movie paper items we have only previously sold a herald on this movie,

Not only does it star luscious Thelma Todd, but listen to this plot summaryL "7 FOOTPRINTS TO SATAN, the 1929 Benjamin Christensen psychological supernatural horror mystery thriller ("Will raise the devil with your funny bone!"; based on the Cornell Woolrich novel which he wrote using the William Irish pseudonym) starring Thelma Todd, Creighton Hale, Sheldon Lewis, William V. Mong, Sojin, Angelo Rossitto, and Loretta Young (in an early uncredited role, as one of Satan's victims!). Note that this is one of the coolest and most bizarre movies of this time! It had been thought to be lost for many years, but an Italian print of the sound version surfaced (the movie had been filmed as both a silent and a sound movie). The plot concerns a young man and woman who get mixed up with stolen jewels, and they end up at the home of Satan himself, where there is a bizarre masquerade party, and the woman is threatened with torture by some of the guests to make her tell where the jewels are! SPOILER ALERT! At the end of the movie, the two leads escape from Satan's house, but the ordeal has driven both of them completely insane! Look for Angelo Rossitto of "Freaks" fame in a major role as a dwarf at the party, a starring role by beautiful Thelma Todd, and an uncredited appearance by Loretta Young as one of Satan's victims. There is also a gorilla that attacks a nude woman, and much, much more! Bizarrely, there are many reviews of this movie online, but none of them state exactly who it was who plays Satan!" Currently it is at $68, and that seems like a real bargain to me!

Many of them sell for FAR less than posters or lobby cards from the same titles, and some of them are from titles you virtually NEVER see at all! Our 2010 Winter Special Non-U.S. Mini/Major Auction is different from our previous mini/major auctions in two ways!
     1) We only have non-U.S. posters in this auction (we had one other mini/major auction like this last September).  The auction includes linenbacked and non-linenbacked posters, and ones that must ship in tubes, ones that must ship in regular flat packages, and ones that must ship in oversized flat packages, so if you purchase a combination of these items then they will need to be sent in two or more packages, so please bear this in mind when you are bidding.
     2) While there are not a large number of very expensive items in this auction (as there has been in many of our previous mini/major auctions) there ARE a huge number of "better quality" non-U.S. posters, ones that figure to sell for between $100 and $500, and many of them are very desirable and rarely offered for sale!

NOW is the time to consign items for our Spring 2010 Mini/Major Auction!

Our Spring 2010 Mini/Major Auction will be held this April, and while that may SEEM like a long way off, it really is much closer than you might think, and NOW is the time to send consignments!

What will be in this auction?  There will be lots of linenbacked posters from the U.S. and many other countries, but there will also be some non-backed items as well.  We try not to include just a couple of non-backed items of a specific size, because we feel they sometimes "get lost" among all the linenbacked items, so we try to only include "special collections" of non-backed items.

For example, we have had a group of window cards, or a group of excellent single lobby cards, and we are open to including any clearly "better" items (you just need to let us know what items you have, and we can tell you if we think they will do better in this mini/major auction or if we think they will do better in our regular weekly auctions).   After all, we make more money when our consignors make more money (unlike other auctions, who compete with their consignors by buying items for as little as they can and then auctioning their own items alongside consignments), so our entire goal is to put your items in the auctions where they will sell for the very most possible!

If you have posters you are thinking about consigning to this special auction (and of course, just as in our current and previous Mini/Major Auctions, we will give a great t-shirt to all buyers, and make more great bonus offers to buyers of multiple items), then you want to contact us sooner than later, because once we commit to take an item, we never change our mind, and the longer you wait, the harder it will be to get items included (when the auction gets close, we only add really excellent items). In most our recent mini/major auctions, we had to turn down some quality items in the final days, both because the consignors had waited too long, and because we had already been consigned some of the same items from other collectors (and we always go with the first person to consign an item, so you want to consign sooner than later!).

If YOU have posters that you want to consign, then you should contact us about them in the near future. This is a great opportunity to get your very high-quality posters (linenbacked or non-backed) into a high-quality HONEST auction, where the buyers have ZERO fear of buying a repro or a mis-described item, both because we are so fanatical about inspecting every item we auction, and because we give an ironclad lifetime return privilege if it ever turns out we sold an item that was mis-described in a material way! Plus the buyers know they won't have their bids "mysteriously maxed" as so often happens in other auctions!

What type of items make sense for this auction?  We find that there is a "big fish in a small pond" phenomenon in our "regular" weekly auctions.  What do we mean by this?  Often, a $100 poster will stand out as one of the best items, and do quite well, but that same poster might not do as well in a "mini/major auction", especially if it is not a "high demand" poster.

The posters that do best in these mini/major auctions are ones that you truly don't see very often, or ones that have REALLY cool images, or both!  If you have items that you think would make more sense in this special auction rather than in our regular weekly auctions, contact us and let us know what you have, and we can tell you what we think.

Week in and week out we auction hundreds of items that sell for low, low prices (we actually sell lots and lots of items for $1 and $2, and a decent percentage of what we auction goes for $14 and under, and our leading 'competitor" NEVER auctions a single item for less than FIFTEEN DOLLARS, due to their outrageous $14 minimum buyers premium).

But Tuesday night's 999 folded one-sheets, closing tonight, on the 2nd of March, represent REALLY incredible values, and that includes a lot of excellent posters, and yet many of these are currently languishing at low, low, prices!

With just 13 hours to go, the 999 folded one-sheets include 213 that are still languishing at just $1 each, a surprising 314 that are still at $2 each or under, a silly 427 that are $3 each and under, and a mind-boggling 489 that are $4 each and under! THAT'S RIGHT. NEARLY HALF THE ITEMS ARE $4 EACH OR UNDER!

HELLO! This is 2010, and I doubt you could have purchased many of these posters for $4 or under 20 years ago!  And you can get as many as you want sent in one package anywhere in the U.S. for just $10 shipping for all (or actual cost anywhere else), EVEN IF you win 100 or more!     Note that some auction houses treat their buyers as if it is Halloween all year long, except they play many "tricks" on them, and give them very few "treats"!  They SAY their auctions are "$1 no reserve", but actually they are "$15 no reserve" when take into account their minimum $14 buyers premium.  They SAY many of their items are in excellent condition ("very fine to fine minus"?), but all too often the buyer receives an item that is in far lesser condition than they said, and they even trick you with the images, using "stock images" or "enhanced images".  Worst of all, some use "house bidders" who seem to have a spooky ability to bid just under the amount the real bidders were bidding!
