Rolling linen backed posters
« on: July 06, 2016, 11:48:40 PM »
I'm looking to roll a few linen backed posters for storage. I understand that linen can be somewhat abrasive, so I'd like to lay a piece of paper over the top, but what paper should I use? I'm considering MicroChamber paper, glassine or kraft paper. What do you recommend?

Another choice could be acid-free tissue paper. (Is this for long term storage?)

And welcome1 to the forum.

I use glassine paper myself.  It is pH neutral so is safe for long term storage.  It is also pretty economical when you buy it in a large roll.  I use the Borden & Riley brand which I buy at a local art supply store (in Seattle), but it may also be found online.

I would assume kraft paper is acidic and may cause harm over longer time periods.

I don't have any direct experience with MicroChamber paper, but it seems like it should be suitable too. It is more expensive, however.

Personally, I would buy an art folder.  Store them flat.

Unless the linen posters are larger than 1 sheet and quad sized...

Thanks! Yes, I was going to store flat (long term), but the size is larger than a 1 sheet (about 30 x 44), so it doesn't fit in many folders. I was planning on buying one of those acid free Gray Board boxes from Bags Unlimited.
