Well, I haven't been on MPF in over two weeks so I have yet to catch up with all the stuff that went down and how this forum came about. I got a tad bit from T, but I guess sometime during Christmas I will be able to catch up and go find out what all went down. Jeezus, I leave for 2 weeks and everything goes up in flames. Hopefully I'll be able to participate more on this forum when my work schedule lightens up in the next week or two. Best of luck to everyone involved on this forum. Chad

Well, we are done shooting CJ. I'm about to head to the Wrap Party tonight in downtown. I should be back on the forum pretty regularly now unless Post Production kicks my ass.

Hey Fallen, thanks for the interest in my work. The pic is of the artwork for my film that is being released on Feb. 14th as a Bloody V-Day event. That film is now called She's Crushed. The original title was just called Crushed. I have a poster for it on my poster website under US One Sheets with the same artwork on it as my avatar on a different forum which you've seen. When we sold the film to distribution they changed the name of the title for a couple of reasons which I will go into more detail about later for those who care to learn a little bit about the filmmaking industry. My producing partner and I always felt She's Crushed was just too on the nose with a lot of things in the movie and once you see the movie I think you will understand some of our concerns. We also faught over the artwork with the distribution company and this new picture I have up as my avatar on this forum is what became of our compromise. When I get home, I'll post up some pic's of our original artwork and their original artwork with more detail explaining the situation for anyone who is interested in the process us filmmakers go through to get a movie made. I know Carson, CJ, Schan, and a few others have expressed interest in my work with a couple of them asking me to post about it on the forum to share with others. So for a quick update on my career. I have made 3 Feature Films todate. A feature film is what you see when you go to the movies or rent from Blockbuster/Netflix and so forth. A short film is generally anything under 1 hour long and usually only plays festivals and places like IFC on cable. Then you have music videos and other sub categories. I've made a couple of shorts and a few music videos as well as a lot of video's for the Fashion Industry. My IMDB Profile: (which needs to be updated and pic's added to it) http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1827655/Company Website: http://www.holditnow.com/The 3 freatures I've made are: 1. SideFX (Horror) - Released in 2005. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0441821/2. Crushed now titled She's Crushed (Psychological Thriller/Shocking) - Film's US Release date is Feb. 14, 2010. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1192621/Crushed Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/CRUSHED/132377284927?ref=sgmPre-order - But I might be able to get some for you cheaper. http://www.amazon.com/Shes-Crushed-Henrick-Nolen/dp/B002XOTBB0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1261586682&sr=8-1Also with Crushed we did a YouTube series that is just "messed up and wierd" to help lead you into the film which you can find if you search for TaraIsCrushed on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=taraiscrushed&search_type=&aq=0&oq=tarais 3. The High Schoolers Guide to College Parties (Comedy) - We just finished shooting this one so we are going into Post Production on this film. Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Highschoolers-Guide-to-College-Parties/186465891724?ref=mfWe went with a comedy this time to make sure we don't pigeon hole ourselves in this industry. I don't ever want to be limited on the opportunities that might arrise in this business due to perception. So if you guys want you can become fans of the facebook page's of my latest two film adventures as that will be your best bet to keeping up with what is happening with each film. Chad

Ok, so here is the artwork they wanted before we got it changed. The whole thing was they wanted the title to start with an S so it could sit on the shelf next to Saw 28 or whatever one they have out now. Plus their cover art looks like something you would see in saw. We argued that there was no cave in our movie and that was very misleading among other things. I just don't want people trying to compare us to Saw because we had no where near the budget of a Saw film. While our film is somewhat gruesome at times is based on a different premiss than the Saw Franchise. We argued that if it was too close to looking like a Saw film then it would fall short of the audience expectations and we would never be able to get that back and people would be disappointed and could no judge the film on its own merit.

Nice .. Deff better than the 'cave' version .. But I have to say I like the sezzyness of the one you compromised on Speaking of the 'cave' version .. I hate when Im at the video store and I see small budget films pretty much emulating a larger film with its stylized art or just a blatant ripoff of the story.. I typically wont even give those films a chance .. Like a street racing movie may have similar cars and artwork to Fast and Furious .. and Im all "oohhh a fake F&F flick" and keep on walking .. So in short Im glad you fought for better artwork ! I bet your film is way better than most if not all of the Saw sequels

Well, to be honest, there are many things we are working on to be better filmmakers. I just hope fans, friends, and others can see that we are getting better with each film we make. I'm not going to say this film is a masterpiece by no means. There are a lot of things that we learned in the process of making this film. There are also some things that we realize could have been better in this film. During the editing of this film we lost some of the smaller story lines, but you can still get them if you pay close attention. There are things said rather quickly and non chalantly by characters that if you miss will cause you to miss some of the smaller subplots.
I'm hoping that at the very least we entertained you for an hour and a half and made you think about certain things. I cannot compare this film to Saw because it is a very different film. The only thing I can say that it probably shares with Saw as a commonality would be the fact that my film does have a couple of torture scenes in it. Other than that it is a very different film. I would be more inclined to say it's along the lines of Fatal Attraction or Misery on some kind of Asian form of PCP. The reason I say Asian, is because this film is heavily influenced by Asian Cinema. PCP, because I think we took it a bit further than the two Hollywood movies mentioned. We always felt that if the marketing campaign was designed to push a Saw type movie the people who would rent, buy, or view this movie would be disappointed they were sold something different. This was one of the main reasons we fought hard against it. I'm not knocking any of the Saw movies, I'm just saying I don't think my film fits that mold.
When it comes out in a month and a half, I'll let you all decide after watching it. You can praise, you can rape it, either way you won't hurt my feelings. I truly mean that. At this point I've heard it all. I hear more rejection and negativity on daily basis being in this industry than most people get in a life time. I also understand that not every movie made is going to be liked by everyone. There are some people that love my first film and hate my second. There are people who love the second and don't care much for the first one. There are people who love and hate both films. The only thing I can really do is make these movies and let the masses decide. I can say most people so far do not get this film. Well I take that back. A lot of women do get it, but there is a good portion of people that find it disturbing and don't really get the point we were making with this film. Overall, Crushed has responded pretty strong with the viewing audience, however Festival Directors, Festival Committees and other Industry people do not like this film nor do they want to help it find it's audience. But at the same time I didn't make it for those people. I also understand that it is much easier to tear something down than it is to create something or build something.
As long as each of my films reach their intended audience allowing me to be able to make another one, I'll be happy. There is a lot of hard work and a lot of fight that you have to go through everyday just to get a film made. And that is just getting a film made. I haven't even begun to discuss what it takes to get a good one made. And as we've seen many times over by Hollywood, a lot of money thrown at a project doesn't necessarily make it a better film. By the way, thank you to those who are taking an interests in my work. It gives me a reason to continue to do everything I can to make more of them.

No, to my knowledge, Netflix isn't licensed by the studios to stream or mail outside of the US. The good news is Netflix is talking about offering a streaming-only international service by third or fourth quarter of 2010 but no legitimate means of streaming Netflix abroad today. Unfortunately, as always, there's that small band of derelicts who like to feel they're Ving Rhames in Mission Impossible and "hack the mainframe" by using VPNs and proxies to have their IP appear US to Netflix servers. They find a loophole, netlfix patches it, they find another loophole, netflix patches it. It's cat and mouse just like the iPhone jailbreaks and firmware fixes and always inadvisable.

I have a PS3 and already got the disc needed to stream movies .. I just never finished signing up for the free trial account .. When this is out there Ill prolly do it then As far as prices dont they always do that MSRP stuff high that way stores like walmart can say hey were cheap ! Well sell it for $14.99 !! Whilst other stores like FYE or other music/movie chain stores stick to the MSRP to make that extra $$
