Cirque du Soleil Posters
« on: January 30, 2016, 11:11:22 PM »
I got these posters directly from the Cirque du Soleil Canadian site, back in about 2001. I first saw the Cirque performance here in Santa Monica, in 1987, with their tents set up in the large parking lot adjacent to the Santa Monica Pier. The show, performances, lighting, theatricality and atmosphere were all something to behold.

I particularly liked the show called Dralion, from 1999. The music and voice of singer, Erik Karol, was out of this world. I added a clip of Karol and the Asian acrobat (she is Incredible) performing during the song "Stella Errans."

Mystere (1993) 24x32 inches

Quidam (1996); 27 x 39 inches

Dralion (1999); 24x36 inches

La Nouba (1998) Disneyworld Theatre; 21x29 inches

O (1998), Bellagio, Las Vegas; 18x24 inches

Here's the finale from their show called Alegria (1994). This song will also leave you in a great, feel good place. Just watch the faces of many in the audience, (the woman at 2:12, as one example) as the performers come out to take a bow. Priceless.

This clip is from 2001.

I love this singer's voice, too (as well as the song). Performers from all over the world, coming together, and giving performances of a lifetime. bed1

Cirque de Soleil really is amazing.  These have a neat, virtual reality vibe.  cool1

The timing is perfect.

I Love (with a capital L) Cirque.   And I saw just this Saturday gone, Amaluna.  Fact is though, this one was a bit of a disappointment.  No soul, awful progressive rock music and nothing that hadn't been seen in most of the other performances.

Alegria was my first and the music and the crossed trampoline was magical.  Have also seen Quidam, Saltimbanco, Kooza, Totem.  All superb.  Not so Amaluna unfortunately, and the UK reviews seemed to have a bit of a downer on it too.

...and thinking of the four little Chinese girls who perform utter delightful magic with the diabolos in Quidam, I am virtually in tears just thinking about their poppet-ness.

Their skill is just positively ridiculous.
