- Hedren fractured a leg, had scalp wounds and also bitten in the neck by a lion and required 38 stitches.
- Griffith was mauled, receiving 50 stitches to her face; it was feared she would lose an eye, but she recovered and was not disfigured - had to get reconstructive facial surgery.
- Marshall was gored so often he was hospitalized with gangrene
- cinematographer Jan de Bont (who later went on to direct Speed and Twister) had to get 220 stitches after being scalped by a lion.
Source 1 and 2Pardon my ignorance but it seems the three lead actors: Tipi Hedren, Noel Marshall and Melanie Griffith at the time of filming were mother, father and daughter in real life (the parents divorced later). Plus Noel's 2 sons also played the 2 sons in the film. The lions were theirs, they had over 100. They were hoping to use the movie to raise awareness about the cruel treatment of big cats in captivity.
Sorry if you're bored reading this, to me is interesting!
