But a 120" screen when viewed from 10' back gives the same feeling of filling your eyes.  And my sound system is better than many theaters.  But even with that, it isn't quite the same as seeing something at the cinema.

I agree Jay... although not only for the social/cultural reasons you mention.  While home cinema projectors can easily match the same enveloping field of view we get at the theaters, I think our brains will still process a 120" screen from 10' back differently than a 1200" screen from 100' back. They *should* be the same, but they definitely feel different in terms of impact.  I say this as a fellow projector owner :)
